"cooler waters off the coast"
"deep layer sheer"
"storm should weaken before it goes inland"

There’s no real land in Timbalier Bay and it’s not really going to make landfall until it gets to Cut Off. By that point it’s already halfway to New Orleans from Grand Isle. Plus it’s moving so fast Zeta isn’t going to have much time to weaken before it cuts through the West Bank.

As the crow flies its 60 miles from Timbalier Island to NOLA

I have a workboat in Fourchon right now and they are only clocking 50 mph winds

Update to the update - strongest squall yet - probably pushing 40 with the gusts and sideways rain

It'll get squirrely... During Delta in LC we were sitting drinking beer in the neighbors garage then shite got a little sideways

Kinda cool to see how strong that wind is and amazing that it can even do that. Never seen that... couldn't imagine what it would have looked like during Laura.

Anyways, prayers for you all in SELA.

Louisiana couldn't get anymore unlucky in a hurricane season. The rest of you guys on the Gulf Coast can take it on the chin. We closed for at least a decade now.

There is a reason that a meteorologist is one of the few jobs you can have and be wrong. large percentage of the time.

I keep seeing concern about a big surge in LaPlace possibly blocking I-10. Wouldn’t the west wind from the front coming through push that water back out tonight?

The storm is moving too fast and in the wrong direction for that to be a major concern.

You’re welcome. I am looking at some individual cells using RadarScope and there’s one G3 off of Mobile going north at 66 knots

Please pray for me, my family and my pets...while we're at it, can you go ahead and start a gofundme for the inevitable I'm facing. TIA
