I called to cancel directv and go with YouTube tv. Directv dropped my bill from $150 to $89 a month. It was a no brainer to keep Directv for me.

I went through that cycle 3-4 times with Directv before I got fed up with it. They lock you in for 12 months and then jack your price right back up hoping you don’t notice. Then you have to call and bitch and threaten to cancel so that they can go through their whole list of new promos they’re running and finally agree to drop your price.

At least YouTube just tells you what the price is lol

I switched back to cable a few months ago and it’s cheaper now than what I had with YouTube TV. And when I switched I increased my internet package and still am paying less now.

We got rid of cable a few years ago and went with Hulu. I also had an OTA antenna. Once we switched to using the Hulu app it always defaulted to Samsung TV Plus when turning on the TV. Because there are a ton of channels in the Samsung app including local because of the antenna, my wife thought that was the new package we had and she never opened the Hulu app. If it wasn't for ESPN, I wouldn't even need a streaming service. If the prices keep going up, I may try and cancel and see if she or the kids even notice. I know its minimal but it feels really good watching TV for free like I'm getting one over on "the man"

I may have to start looking at that again. I was really hoping not to have to do that again anytime soon

The real problem with cable and streaming TV is that the providers have to buy packages from the content makers. You want Discovery? You have to provide all of their channels, even though all but two are just showing reruns from the main network.

You can get that and 19 other channels with the $15 sports extras add on. So $70 in total. I’m looking at this right now.

i wonder if the price increase for everyone, is because YouTubeTV’s cost of owning the NFL Season Pass is hurting them.

The 2024 NFL Season Pass price was just toooo much for me this year and I got YouTubeTV to get NFL Season Pass the year before.

The real solution is pay per channel a la carte. Someone needs to do that.

I probably watch 5% of the channels

If I had YT i would cancel it and go back to cable.

82.99????

That’s basically the price of cable and you have to use that stupid streaming.

I plan on pausing my service after football season. Pausing it for two months will bring the price down to about the old rate.

StreamBros like to Baghdad Bob about the streaming delay. You can't watch sports with a 1-2 minute delay. Kills the whole vibe.

I just have Sling Orange for $40/month, for football season. Basically just the ESPNs. No SECN.

To be honest it would probably be cheaper to just get Antenna, ESPN+ $11.99 a month to watch college football and baseball games. Then get Hallmark during Christmas for the wife $7.99 a month.

Everyone already has Amazon prime and Netflix so this is all us SEC sports fans really need or am I missing something?

except it's illegal

I may go back to using a Tablo for locals. That box was $$$ and now you don't have to pay for the subscription for the guide.

When are they going to bring MLB network back? That was one of my main reasons for going with YoutubeTV and they dropped them a month later.

We have NBA pass now. That was in a previous hike. Also the last hike was for Lifetime bullshite
