Jambalaya color was too yellow and not brown bag colored. Not enough meat
I don’t know anyone who puts ham in their gumbo. But I’m kind of the opinion that the variety of styles is what makes gumbo special. But I wouldn’t say it’s “the typical”

Other parts of Louisiana than New Orleans have better individual dishes than those at that restaruant. The gumbo soup and box jambalaya looked nasty
Place is a decent representation of black Creole New Orleans cooking. Nothing more nothing less.
I always find these videos kind of goofy. Nobody in Western society who doesn’t live under a rock should have such a super surprised aghast type reaction to trying the basically normal food or anywhere else in Western society.

That was quite entertaining and the food looked pretty good.
Now the sharing of utensils across the table is a no no for me.

There are hardly much better places than Dizzy’s. Give it a whirl and report back.

No tomatoes either. Hard pass.

Ham in gumbo? I’ve never seen that but don’t think I’d be anti.
The jambalaya looked terrible though. Like really bad. I’m sure it tasted fine and to Brits who’ve never had it I’m sure it was good. But it shouldn’t be yellow and there were like two pieces of sausage in it.
But I do enjoy these kinds of videos with people from one part of the world trying out our stuff.

I love New Orleans food but I think it's a crime to call it "Cajun." I guess it works for tourism marketing though.

If you're into Korean food, this guy runs a channel called "Korean Englishman" where he takes English speaking public figures to the best restaurants in Seoul.

New Orleans food is more creole than Cajun. Acadiana food is more Cajun than creole.

and by and large it's all good, but it's sort of false advertising to tout nawlins as being all about cajun food, especially to tourists, I've had to recondition friends who went to Nola for cajun food and hated it because it was such a poor representation

Very awesome.
Those guys are a hoot.

I only watched the first 4-5 minutes with the gumbo and jambalaya.
I’m not sure which one looked worse.
They should put that business owner in jail for serving that to tourists for a probably outrageous price.

The UK kids in that video were funny and with great insight.

Yes, truly agree. I’m pretty sure the restaurant owner said creole though, so the mistakes are on the viewer side.
