2005
Just graduated highschool.
Worked at a Corrugated Converting warehouse for $11.
Worked on machines feeding sheets of corrugated to a machine that cut, printed, and glued them into boxes in the MS heat of the summer/fall.
Saved up and bought a 42 inch plasma tv to go with my Xbox 360. Damn thing cost like 2400

Bagging groceries at Albertsons, 1996. I believe it was $4.25/hr. We made tips too, even though people were not supposed to give us any. Percy Sledge would come shopping sometimes and we would trip over ourselves to get into his lane because he'd tip $20 for taking his stuff out to his Caddy for him.

Lucked into a fire watch job on a shutdown at the Mobil plant in Beaumont in summer of '92. Buddy's father was a crane operator and got us both on.
I made $10.50/hr working 7-12's, 6 pm to 6 am.
Saved up $9K that summer and bought a used Ford Ranger to get me through college.

The year? 1999. Me? 15. The job? Slangin pizzas at a Pizza Hut delivery/carryout store. Definitely the most fun job of all the different menial jobs in my youth. Except super bowl Sunday. Super bowl Sunday was not fun. Less fun than when I was working in retail on Black Friday.

1998
16 yrs old
$7.50 hr
Driving a front end loader for a fertilizer plant.
I remember during spring break we’d work 7 am to midnight and get time and half. I thought I was a rich man back then.
I also learned that Uncle Sam hated overtime.
