I got sprayed by a skunk when I was young. That’s a sickening smell that you can’t get off no matter what you wash it with.

Ha! sucks balls! Happend to mine twice too - and before work. Someone in the office said, “I smell a skunk” that shite is hard to get rid of.

Wash dog in tomato juice. Helps a bunch but I don’t think anything but time will get rid of all the smell

It's so bad.... The first time she just got grazed. The second time she got all of it. I saw the skunk before she did, then she turned her head and took off after it. Fuuuuuuck.

Used to happen occasionally when we lived in the country. But the dogs stayed outside all the time so it didn't matter.

Almost as bad as shrimp juice that leaked out of an ice chest — took months

I used to use this excuse when I'd come home at night in high school

My boxer got sprayed 5 times in a 6 month period.
I finally started trapping and relocating them - 15 total in less than 2 years.
Tomato juice does not work.
But this stuff is amazing if used soon after the spraying - soak the dog, let it sit for 10 minutes, keep soaking to make sure it doesn’t dry. Then rinse out.

Hydrogen peroxide+baking soda+dawn soap is the most effective. I would imagine the prepackaged item shown is just this mixture plus some perfumes/odor masking scents.

Coonhound got sprayed right in the face. It was awful. You could tell his eyes were burning too. Thankfully a neighbor had some type of spray that helped get rid of the stench

I've tried all the remedies and ^ is the only answer for dog fur. Just be very careful to not get any in their eyes. Hell just don't go past the ears. This combo works though...Sadly I know from experience multiple times. Stupid fricking dogs

V8 juice bath.
Works better than anything...still not great

Yes my heeler got hit good.
1 quart of 3-percent hydrogen peroxide (available at any pharmacy)
1/4 cup baking soda
1 teaspoon liquid dishwashing soap
Washed her eyes and face out with cool water. Then rinsed her all over. added the mix above and scrubbing through fur. Rinsed immediately followed by a regular dog shampoo. This cleaned her up fast. Her eyes and mouth were fricked up for a bit. The smell was removed from her pretty fast though.

I dealt with this myself this week and the hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and dawn worked very well.
