This is correct. You don’t just magically move everything to this so called “safe”spot right before retirement. Without guaranteed pensions You have to stay in the game and generate income via your investments. You may do this “safe spot” investments Strategy in your 70’s but if you are in your late 50’s or early 60’s you have to stay in the game unless you have accumulated a mass of wealth. That is the rough decision for anyone that is in their late 50s or early 60’s. Do you gamble that this impending downturn is short lived and just retire or do stay at the grind you have been doing for 40 years? Tough decision. I know this all too well.

Thanks for your concern. I’m 63, retired, and down a lot despite not being aggressive. Just have to hang in there. Still haven’t touched SS. Trying to wait until 70 for that.

I was joking that I invested in the rubel, but it is up something like 200% since March.

Clever way of using "bout 350" without actually saying it.

Nice job OT.

There we’re articles written back in May stating that the ruble is currently the strongest currency.

The West really made a bad gamble with the sanctions on Russia.

It is hurting us FAR more than they expected.

People always viewed Russia’s economy as the size of Spain’s, due to the reported GDP, but when it comes to essential worldwide markets, they are probably more on par with Germany.

When you combine that and the stupidity of the last two years, this is severely self-inflicted.

only dumb*sses.

In December, the signs (war, inflation, interest rates, labor and supply shortages, etc) were screaming at us to get out of the market. Those who didn't listen are either ignorant or greedy.

Y’all do realize you can make as much on a down day as on an up day?

Research SPXS. There are other bear funds as well for different sectors, etc. Educate yourself so you can act accordingly. This wasn’t that hard guys. Holding cash is not the smartest move here.

If you made a bet this BS was going to happen….cha ching!!!

It's the democrats plan, and I lived too long to see it come to fruition.
I was hoping to retire in less than 2 years, but I'm guessing now that is out the window.

You posted this on the Money Board also. 401ks don't necessarily have bear funds

I am three years out 85% bonds/securities, 10% bonds and 5% equities. I have lost 9% so far.

It isn't great but I am hoping dollar cost averaging and three years helps.
