I think it has more to do with the absurdity that is a winning pageant queen being stripped (not in the good way) and shamed for her political views after she won the event.

I have no experience in event planning like this, but I would think that if you were looking to reserve a venue similar to that described, in N.O., during that time of the year, you probably should have had it booked a good while back.
