Have you done this? Or is it just another “young people are dumb” post?

Everyone born around 2000 completely freaks out when the phone announces:

GPS signal ... LOST!

It was awesome to pack a Garmin rather than maps or mapquest instructions when I was in a new place.

Yeah, I'm the new version of the old guy who won't use a debit card.

Yes.

With that said, based on how often we get calls from Boomers who can neither read a map nor use GPS and need us to give them directions, I'd say you're all doubly incompetent.

That's my dad. He walks around with like 1-2k in his wallet at all times. He claims he "doesn't want the damn government to be able to see what he spends his damn money on"

I still call AAA before a trip and request maps.

I taught my niece how to drive last summer and she didn't know any street names and couldn't get anywhere

To be fair, I didn't know how to get anywhere when I was 16 and smart phones weren't even around then.

My mother is 50 years old and can't get anywhere without following me.

Some people just tune out how to get somewhere if they're not the one driving.

Teaching our 15 yo to drive. It’s fricking mind blowing.

My daughter couldn't identify roads that we traveled frequently or major interstates. Took her to the DMV to take the driving test. She wanted to drive home. We got in the car and asked how to get there......

Neither one of them can get anywhere without their phones.

I will say this, I use my iphone whenever I'm out of town.

I’m in sales, and I have no idea how the frick salesmen did this years back. It’d take me at least 3 times longer without Google Maps.

34, and I have the big red maps of LA, MS, TX, and AR. It's actually nice to just look where you're going before getting on the road

If I take a road trip somewhere I bring both an atlas and GPS. The good thing about GPS is that it tells you the exact time you’re suppose to arrive. I use a GPS mainly for that

Wait until they have to tell someone where they are stranded/broken down, or worse, when they have to call 9-11 in an emergency and tell where they are.

I’m from a very rural area ... but you know what way is north and which are the other directions. Landmarks and paying fricking attention whilst you drive kinda fill in the rest.

At 16 I knew directions but didn’t watch for landmarks... never got lost but definitely wasted time.

Still use maps (the first time) for most new places out of convenience

Who the hell knows how to get anywhere more than a few miles away from your home before you learn how to drive?

I've had young women calling at work panicked because they cant find out place on google maps using street address. Having to physically explain to them directions is painful.

I lost my shite on mine Monday morning driving her to school. She gets her full license in February and for the 3rd time, she could not tell me how to estimate how long it'll take to get from Siegen(exit 163) to 73(exit 173). She's a sophomore with a 101 avg in honors Algebra 2 and can't fricking tell me it'll take just under 10 minutes.

I had a metro pass at 12. I knew how to get all over the damn place.
