Man I don’t know why it isn’t for you, but it’s sure easy for me to not donate.

We'd have gotten divorced. She knows how I feel about child fundraisers and solicitation.

Very strong feelings.

I don’t just donate money. I’m OT & IRL poor. But I do always have grass to cut, chores around the house & a kid to babysit if any of these kid want to work for some money.

I'm shocked the travel ball hardos haven't already downvoted everyone in this thread.

Everything is too fricking expensive now. Everybody sells shite. It's annoying as frick.

It costs thousands of dollars for school activities now. To play football. To be in theater. 4-H/FFA has even cost me hundreds this year. Scouts used to be like $75, but now it's $350 and everything has a bolt-on cost.

I happen to have my budget up, and we spent over $6,000 in the past 12 months on school/extracurricular activities, and we don't do any travel ball or cheerleading or anything like that.

For scouts, we abandoned selling shite and just collect it from parents now. We all prefer it. If we need to fundraise, we can, but we try to offer value.

For FFA, we sold fresh strawberries, but people actually wanted them and it was a normal price.

It seems like we have to sell discount cards, ads for programs or signs, etc, etc... all the fricking time.

Oh, and silent auctions! Please go collect for silent auctions.

When I come across another kid selling shite, I have compassion. I get it. I will give a girl scout a $5 bill, but I don't want the cookie. I want a sticker that I can wear to avoid being asked every day.

Every fricking store now has a "round up" or "donate" question when you checkout. Dude, I am in here every day, I cannot give to your cause with every transaction.

And the generic fricking organizations that setup outside of retailers that seem sketchy as frick. Sorry, no.

It never ends.

One of the ones I've seen do this live in a $600,000 house, have a brand new suburban, F250 and a fishing boat. Idk maybe theyre cash poor supporting their lifestyles while you support their kids.

Know what grinds my gears....anything to do with youtwittokface.

Made my wife a deal 4 years ago. I'd quit drinking beer everyday if she gave up social media. I had been an alcoholic for 14 years and I had an easier time quitting alcohol than she did social media.

It has been a tremendous turn around in the quality of life. Most people are not equipped to deal with the ramblings of 100s of people and maintain a healthy personal life.

Fundraising for sports has always been a thing. Back in the day tho we did stuff for the money. Car wash’s, bench press pounds, chicken dinners, etc.

My favorite are the parents today teaching their kids to be homeless just dressed up in a uniform and begging for money at a stop light.

You aren't wrong.

I was the Cub Scout leader that took a stand and said frick selling popcorn. It's overpriced garbage. People hate selling it. People don't actually want it. they'd rather just donate to scouts.

I put out a survey to families, and 100% of them said they'd rather cut a check for $100 than to have to sell popcorn. They just want to go camping.

It pisses council off, but so be it. Find another way.

If you want to get really pissed, you should join or attend school governance meetings. This is where you find out they spend tens of thousands to rent facilities for events like prom or graduation instead using the facility they own, and in the ATL metro area, our schools legit are costing $160 million to 200 million to build.

They'll just increase Sr. Fees or charge $100 to attend prom, etc... instead of using the goddamn taxpayer funded palaces they already have.

Worked the concessions in the PMAC the night LSU played Duke. SHAQ vs Laettner. Me and a buddy got ‘lost’ after tip off. Shaq with the big dunk to open, but Laettner with the 3s at the end.
