is it mental weakness? or is it having to numb down to be crammed into a flying tin can surrounded by kids screaming or kicking your seat, someone bringing on food that stinks up the entire plane, waiting for nimrods to figure out that their carryon suitcase wont fit i8nder their seat?

after travel for work for 27 years, I assure you it is the latter - and anything to take the edge off and help get you where you are going - i am all for it.

Needing drugs to get through that is mental weakness, yes.

Oh wow, dude...none of us here have ever flown and sat in a lounge before. Surely none of us get free access to lounges with our business credit cards or anything.

I find that people who take themselves a tad too serious or can’t come down from their moral high horse, aren’t very fun people to socialize with anyhow. airport or no airport.

I never understand why it’s socially acceptable to get drunk at 7am if you’re in an airport

Just think of it like a tailgate at Tiger Stadium. Anyone that's not already somewhat lubricated by 7:00AM is falling behind.

but what’s so special about that view?

It's his first time in a business class lounge. He's pretty excited about it.

Sadly, I have had to sleep in a few of those in DFW because of the weather canceling all flights. Thankfully the AA lounge has nice shower rooms you can use. Just sucks having to put the same clothes back on because you checked everything but your laptop bag.

One time on my way to Vegas I got stuck and was on standby on like 6 different flights before I got lucky and got on. This was after sleeping all night in the AA lounge. Thankfully I wasn't on the floor in the main terminal like many peasants. Every hotel room in Dallas was booked because DFW canceled all flights.

My luggage made it to Vegas before I did.

Look, I'm guilty of having a drink to calm my nerves on a plane, but it does not help. It's fool's gold.

Alcohol reduces your ability to deal with stress overall, leading to reaching for a drink quicker than you normally would over smaller instances of stress.

I've had my fill of business flying over the years.

I think (hope) OP is just making fun of himself, and trying to find some humor in a not-great situation.

Next time I go cross-country it'll be in an RV.

Two things in my travel life I never understood the desire for:

1. To be early boarded when I don’t have first class seats. This might have changed since overhead space inexplicably shrank and gained value.

2. Access to any airline’s lounge. Why don’t airlines give up the lounges and reclaim the space and money for other purposes? I can go to any bar or restaurant in the airport, and serving me food and drink is their core expertise. Flying people from point A to point B should be an airline’s core expertise.

3. Immediately standing up when your plane lands and hits the gate.
