This video is interesting. Manufacturer's are continuing to upgrade the technology in vehicles to spy, market, and even turn you over to police.
Oh, and hope you aren't having a medical emergency, because it won't start.

who is funding the research and development of these products? Is it Ford? How does this help them sell trucks?

eta: watched the video. Despite a lack of any support from their customers, your truck becomes a rolling data-mining machine for Ford to sell you products and/or provide your biometric data to police departments/insurance companies.

Big Daddy Government is driving this- the manufacturers are simply complying with current legislation and trying to stay ahead of what's happening next.

I can't remember what it was called... and it's been a few years- but I remember reading about kill switch legislation being buried in some bill or another a ways back.

Somehow Kia will avoid this technology.

Can't the consumer choose not to buy those features? Will they be included in base models? I suppose if people decided to boycott the brands that do it they'd have to correct.

I think I’m just outright refusing to buy any modern vehicle now. This is only going to continue to get worse.

When will these companies realize that the average baw just wants a plain Jane mid/full size truck. I don’t need a bunch of tech bullshite outside of Bluetooth. Just make a truck/car that runs and is reliable past 100K miles. First company to shift back to that mindset is when I’ll buy a new vehicle

bingo. same for me. My next vehicle will likely be an 80’s/90’s vehicle that’s been restored.

Most people selling and upgrading for new technology, and here I am spending premium for older vehicles with less technology.

2013 Tundra, 250k miles, bare bones/no bells and whistles.

Zero concern about people overspending on vehicles and features they don’t need. I’m sure they’ll figure out a way to insure them as well to give more of their money away.

This extends to tractors too.
quote:

Four hundred inquiries from American farmers poured in after a single interview. Not for a John Deere. Not for a Case IH. For a tractor built in Alberta with a remanufactured 1990s diesel engine and zero electronics.

Ursa Ag, a small Canadian manufacturer, is assembling tractors powered by 12-valve Cummins engines — the same mechanically injected workhorses that powered combines and pickup trucks decades ago — and selling them for roughly half the price of comparable machines from established brands. The 150-horsepower model starts at $129,900 CAD, about $95,000 USD. The range-topping 260-hp version runs $199,900 CAD, around $146,000.

You're probably posting from a smartphone that has transmitted everything they need to know already. But keep driving your old arse truck and pretending that makes you better than others.

I don't think you can turn all of this off. You gave consent. You might turn something off, but not all of this.

Transmit on. If they’re worried about me, we’ve got bigger fish to fry. Maybe they want to listen in on my sports talk radio. Have at it.

No, I didn't. From the first time I fired it up, I declined.

Which is why I see this:
