I would love to know how many baws here bitch about EV subsidies then go hope in their Government Motors truck or DOEboost powered Ford. Then driving off to work on a pipeline that was eminent domained and picked up some subsidized beaver nuggets in the way.

Yeah it's not like Ford and GM and Chrysler didn't get 80 billion dollars not too long ago b/c they don't know how to run a business successfully.

I see EV owners all the time demanding subsidies.

The only people that think EVs are about getting rid of O&G use completely are the EV haters.

SIL had to replace her hybrid civic battery twice.... and the battery is no longer available as new. She now drives an ICE HRV.

An anecdote that may or may not have wider application

It’s actually a good example of how EVs will make better cars for all of us. Older hybrids had absolute piece of shite storage units. They just didn’t get enough R&D. Now with the BEV focus, those hybrids and PHEV are getting better storage units that will make them better cars.

i know. we had this convo before.

it ended with you making up some story about your “O&G baw friends” who you claim thought EVs and solar panels were going to put them out of a job….well until their pal Corinthians420 calmed their fears.

i think we need to drop the EV vs ICE bickering about subsidies, etc and focus at the real issue at hand.

BeepNode must really be a broke MF’er if he’s worried about getting into one of the situations he posted as example in the OP.

You can learn some stuff in these threads.

What kinda witchcraft allows a Tesla to retain 90% battery life after 10 years and 200K?

I thought I was cool b/c I had the original battery in my Jeep for 11 years...

I didn't consider this till talking to a coworker in OH. The weight of the car plus the roads...he's factoring in 80-100 a month for tires

It is entirely possible to be of the opinion that no industry should be receiving a subsidy my friend. I could not agree more, O&G should either be controlled in its entirety by market forces or the nation collectively, it should no more be subsidized than EVs are being subsidized.

Has anyone in these EV threads demanded a subsidy for an EV?

Are you under the impression that car manufacturers didn't ever receive subsidies before EVs or that oil companies don't get massive tax breaks and subsidies?

The EV hate on this board is so childish and illogical. It's just another version of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

I do not hate EVs. I actually like the idea of EVs and renewable energy. I would guess that almost anyone who has bought an EV took advantage of any and all subsidies available. It would not do them any good to demand a subsidy but they get them anyway. If I go out and rob a couple of banks because the bank I do business with got robbed does not mean my bank robbery was justified.

Hating EVs is as illogical as defending them at every turn unless you have a financial interest in defending or promoting them. As I said, god bless and god speed...buy as many as you want. I may actually be in the market in 2 years when my daughter inherits our sub compact commuter...and if the tax incentives are still available rest assured I will take full advantage of that also. It will not mean that the subsidy is justified only that I will, like most folks, lose sight of right or wrong when money is involved.

In what bizarro world do 2, 3 or more wrongs make a right? I would bet, hell I even hope, that most EV owners have taken advantage of the tax incentives in place to promote their sells. If those incentives disappear will sells suffer? If not the industry should lead by example and lobby for them to end.

I hope you're better at arguing than this. That's a pretty dumb retort.

And I'm a fan of EVs. Just not a fan of dumb remarks during an argument.
