Dont be a energy hog. Save some entergy for the next family.

The recommendation - made as part of Energy Star, a federal program run by the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy that is aimed at helping consumers make energy efficient decisions - is in the news after being referenced in a Consumer Reports story earlier this month.

The official federal government recommendation for keeping your house cool in the summer is to keep your air conditioning set at 78 degrees.

When you're at work or away, the program recommends setting it at 85 degrees.

When you're sleeping, the government suggests you set the thermostat at 82 degrees

We leave ours at 71 all the time. I haven't found that it really makes a noticeable difference in our bill to adjust it when we are gone.

Mine is set at 70 right now, currently showing 69 actual temp, and no one is even home

Apparently I also have the living room fan on right now, going for the high score.

Anyone who has any say in anything AC needs to work outside for a full summer in south Louisiana or south Mississipp, then let get back to me with those recommendations.
