The Halloween you new as a child is just a bastardized version of the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. I think we should go back to building sacred bonfires, sacrificing animals, telling each other’s fortunes, and relighting the hearth fires for the new year. But I’m a traditionalist.

When I was a teenager, we used to go around the neighborhoods and scare people. There would be people everywhere and the teenagers did stupid shite to scare kids.. Every few houses few houses would have some type of party or some type of setup that was for scaring people...

Now I live in a neighborhood in which the house across from me is owned by the Baptist church and they put signs in front of it to advertise some event at church on Oct 31. They don't call it halloween. Its some event where they serve free hotdogs and other goodies..

Growing up there was a kid around my age who lived in the neighborhood next to me. His parents were the "you have to get saved" type and they used to always put out signs protesting halloween. One year they had a sign that said "halloween is for the devil" and I remember it got egged and they caught the kids who did it.. And the kids had to go clean it up and mow their yard.. And they gave the kids bibles after they were finished..

One year the city put on a haunted house and that same kid's daddy went back his truck to the entrance of the haunted house and left it there so no one could go into it.. to stop the celebration of halloween. He got arrested.

I never understood how an adult could not see halloween as nothing more than a time for kids to dress up, have fun, and go around and get candy.. And for it to be a time where people have fun getting scared or scarying people.

I like that sloots have appropriated Halloween as a chance to sloot in public.

Displaying their “wares” as it could be put.

Blame child predators and perverts and society accepting those people. The amount of perversion in America now is absurd. We used to be a good Christian nation. We don’t know our neighbors anymore. What happened to watching out for each other in the neighborhood? Now we allow perverts and sex offenders in our neighborhoods and we don’t work together to force them out

There have always been perverts and pedophiles. At least its illegal now. There was a time in our country's history where it wasn't. The pedophiles are not going after kids during trick or treat, there are too many people around.

One problem we have today is that people have inflated fears.

Not every where is set up well for Halloween.

I live in Nola, where the frick would you let your kids trick or treat? Even when I lived in br I never had a single one.

Sure there are probably some decent neighbor hoods to check out, but it's not like being in the Houston or Atlanta burbs.

On the flip side my parents live way out in Covington. No treaters there either, houses are way too far apart.

Where's the list of what color bags the special children are supposed to carry.

I know there are blue, teal and pink. And probably more happening by tomorrow night.

An advantage of living way out in the country: a trick or treater every fifth year or so.

Back in the day we planned out our route.

Got pillow covers as our bags.

Got some sheets and cut holes in them.

We went as ghost it was pretty popular to go around with sheets on your head back then.
Even adults went to weekly evening meeting. back then with sheets on their head and they liked to burn crosses.

Ok, I stretched the truth.
We did do this one year and my mother did punish me for some reason.
We cut her drapes up to make mummy costumes one year and cut holes in sheets to go as ghost the next year.

We went as ghost, mummies, Dracula, and Elvis always is along with was acceptable.. Yes, I still hang my moms velvet Elvis really huge thing on the wall.

No care bares, SJW costumes, etc.
You know who I am talking about you hotdog one year and care bars another year boy.
That a disgraceful to the holiday.
That is wrong!!!

We started at 5:59 pm and started at apartments, then heavily traffic neighborhoods with homes close together, and by 8:00 we finished doing the larger neighborhoods.

We scored some candy back then.

FYI no pics use memory.
High school was fun as the hot girls came as naughty French maids. High school was awesom back in the day.

People were telling stories about razor blades in apples when I was a little kid.

It still works in the right neighborhoods. Most of the shite hyped on teevee doesn't affect normal people
