I think Halloween should be declared a national holiday moved to the last Friday of October. Not that I mind how it is now, I just want another three day weekend.

I blame Facebook. Pretty soon middle aged white women won't go to Walmart or academy in fear of their kids being stolen.

It's like the #2 holiday only to Christmas and a billion dollar industry. Trick or Treating might have fallen off in some areas, but Halloween as a whole is stronger than ever.

I meant more along the lines of how over protective it is these days vs. “back in my day”. I have kids in middle school coming to my door with their parents in the street watching with eagle eyes.

Back in my day, my parents just said be back back 11pm. We would all run around everywhere. Some of the best memories of my life. Times have just changed (through no fault of current parents; risks are just different these days I guess).

I don't know whats sadder. Your post or the fact you think being popular on a message board has value.

Blame child predators and perverts and society accepting those people. The amount of perversion in America now is absurd. We used to be a good Christian nation. We don’t know our neighbors anymore. What happened to watching out for each other in the neighborhood? Now we allow perverts and sex offenders in our neighborhoods and we don’t work together to force them out

This post reeks of trolling.

In fairness, it’s a pretty stupid holiday anyway

Reason magazine usually runs articles around this time about how there have been about zero cases of trick or treaters getting molested, kidnapped, or fed needles in an apple.

But hysterical housewives and “think about the children” types think there is an epidemic of such events.

They, together with the “War on Halloween” Christians, have destroyed the old fashioned trick or treating in the neighborhoods.

I don’t know what in the frick you were talking about. My neighborhood handles Halloween trick-or-treating the same way I had it as a kid 30 years ago

Halloween is alive and well in the suburbs. You can barely get in or out of my neighborhood during trick or treat.

I will admit that when we lived in TX it used to bother me that folks would truck in tons of kids from elsewhere in town. Once I ran out of candy early without ever seeing the kids from our own street.

Trunk or treat sucks. It diminishes Halloween into a crappy buffet.

I dont know what you are talking about, our neighborhood will be filled with kids trick or treating tomorrow night, even I'm excited!

They did have a thing at the school by us this weekend, trunk or treat or some shite, but think most folks are waiting for the real thing

Sounds like a local problem. Our kids are trick or treating around the neighborhood tomorrow and our houses are decorated to scare. Sounds like your neighborhood sucks.
