Personally, I wouldn't do it because it can be seen as an insult. You buy food at one place and want to use space at another place, that sells food as well, so that you can eat your food.

You have to realize that if you are outside.. They don't want people to see people sitting outside of their place, with food from another location. What will people think "well, the food there must not really be that good. Look at those people, they have food from somewhere else". You probably should have went ask them first.

But the waiter didn't have to be a dick about it either. He could have just approached you like an adult and informed you that they do not allow guest to sit at their location to eat food from somewhere else.

Then he’s come to the right place.

Sounds like something a poor person would do if going to a nice restaurant.

This as well.

If you explain to the waiter beforehand that the sandwich place was packed and you'd like to eat your sandwiches, order some drinks and get a dessert, they're more likely to be accommodating than if you just get presumptuous about it.

They might ask you to move to the least visible table though, having someone sitting out on the patio of a restaurant eating food from somewhere else isn't a good look.

That’s like when you go to a restaurant for someone’s birthday.

You always check with the restaurant first before just busting up there with a outside cake for your friend.

frick em. Shouldn't have put tables outside, and there was no need for him to be a douche and lose your business for both him and the bar

I've done it, and IDGAF. I obviously chose that place to sit down because that's where I wanted to be for a bit. If they don't want your business, they don't get your business

I suspect you knew it was not proper. Otherwise, since you knew that was your intent you should have politely asked before ordering.

I tell him, oh well, down my beer and leave him $5 for the beer and didn't pay for the Coke. I told him I wasn't paying for the Coke because you won't let her sit here and drink it.

This was pretty retarded of you to say. He would have been fine with her sitting there drinking the Coke. Congrats on being a thief though.

People here love to shite on NOLA/South Louisiana but I do this kind of thing all the time and places never have issues with it. It's nice sometimes to live somewhere with a more easygoing attitude (and yes I know that comes with other problems)

It's a mile away. 15 minute walk. Probably closer than walking back to hotel.

To be fair, we don't know what kind of attitude the waiter would have had... all we have is his reaction to a presumptuous butthead that steals soft drinks.

You should have stood when eating and sat while drinking. Don't over complicate things man.

If you knew the place served food when you walked up, would you have done the exact same thing?
