You don’t need to do shite. Your wife shouldn’t engage in any communication. If you really feel the need to do something, bleach in the gas tank is a great message to back the f off. The thick Clorox is best.

The part that should bother you is your wife not nipping the please shoot me a text shite in the bud immediately.
She can nip it in the bud by not ever sending him a text (or ignoring any text messages he sends).

Next time you see him in public, you should loudly tell him to stop soliciting your wife via text and stop taking pictures of your daughter

Yeah, I'd have a word or two with him.
Send him a text from the wife's phone.
"Hey, this is ___'s husband. I understand you're going through a divorce, but I don't appreciate your attempt to reconnect with my wife."
One of two things may happen here:
1. The wife refuses to let you use her phone - RED FLAG
2. He denies the whole thing and fades away

And this is why if you don't stomp this out, you're gonna regret it. This story has played out so many times, but yeah, yours will definitely be different.
A tale as old as time.

Many years ago, wife's h.s. boyfriend started calling her. He professed his love. I thought it was hysterical, and somewhat pathetic.
So, he stopped calling. Apparently, his neighbor called the cops on him for loud music. So, to get even, he calls the cops, pretending to be the neighbor, and tells the cops that "I'm going to go over the kick (boyfriend's name) arse for that music."
He doesn't realize 911 had a "trap" that recorded the number. So, he gets arrested. He calls me asking for help. I call the prosecutor in the county where Gonzales, Texas is located, and tell the D.A. that "my wife's dumbass high school boyfriend did something stupid" and the D.A. dismissed the charge.
He called, thanked me, and we've never heard from him again.

As the Husband and Father in this situation, call him out on this. In person preferably.
You don't need to assault the guy, but you do need to make it crystal clear this is not something you, your Wife, or your Daughter plan to put up with. At all.
All of this. The sooner the better.

I assume you knew about it because she told you about it and expressed uncomfortableness and negative feelings about him doing so.
Under that assumption, you have no choice, but to have a man-to-man conversation with him in person. I don’t care if the guy played defensive tackle for the Saints, you have to stand up for your wife if she expressed negativity or concern. If you don’t, she will no longer respect you and potentially consider the alternative.
