she didnt cuss the little girl out.
she acted like a parent. when the parents werent acting accordingly. even toddlers understand what is appropriate the majority of the time if they are taught and not made excuses for.

I mean, we were telling them throughout some of the innings if they were getting loud and between innings and before the game, 'hey let's wait till they start going out on the field," Joe Beaver, Chloe's father said.
That should give us an idea of how excessive it was and that he knew it. If shes had a diagnosis for a year then it seems like they should have a better handle on when to walk her out of the situation and how to accommodate people around her. Everyone who's ever spent six hours with a toddler understands that.

What she was doing IS germane. I think most people would give a shite if the cheering was incessant and way out of line with what else was going on. As I said originally, it is the parents' responsibility to prevent their child from being overly disruptive. It isnt the childs fault. It also is not the fault of surrounding fans to have the expectation of enjoying a game without excessive noise, etc. Disability or not, the parents job is to manage the situation. AS I SAID, the woman should not have said anything to the child.
correct.
and before anyone says anything to anyone else. they should go explain the situation to the usher. who's job it is to handle these type of situations.

I wonder what the Astros are going to do for the little girl? You know they are going to do something.

People are easily manipulated.

The hypothetical scenario we were hashing out is relative to the tone of voice displayed by the woman on the video. She was absolutely not shouting, or being threatening at all.
But yeah, if there’s someone shouting at my child and giving you no other choice, that’s a different story.

Which is precisely why the parents edited a video down to a 12 second clip, posted it on social media, and dialed the local news station all before they hit the parking lot.

Lord Jesus, finally somebody with some damn sense. When I was a kid, we expected to get looks and possibly a talking to from a strange adult if we were acting bad. And it was a good thing. It taught us how to be social, cordial and to respect the fact that we share the same space with others, and it was welcomed by parents and grandparents assuming it was justified and done respectfully.
Nowadays, people talk about how soft kids are, then want to fight a stranger if they do much as look at your child. It’s backwards and lacks introspection.

Even if your parents were right there next to you? I get if a parent is standing by and doing nothing, maybe saying something TO THEM. I do not really see any typical situation in which a child should be corrected by a stranger if a parent is present. At that point, the parent is remiss. Take it up with THEM. Expect them to do THEIR job. Now.. if a kid is acting an arse and no parent around? Absolutely. Tell the kid to straighten up.

yes. it takes a village. If it embarrassed the parents then so be it, that's their child and they are charged with the responsibility of making her an adult who can function successfully in the world, regardless of any disadvantage or disability, and that process should have started a hell of a lot sooner than 8 years old. teach your kid to take criticism correctly and they wont be devastated by it, because its nothing to be devastated about.
Posted on 9/26/18 at 3:15 pm to Masterag
why are you under the assumption that she told the parents something first?

You repeatedly reference responsibilities of the parent here. Not a stranger. I agree with you that the parents (not a village) have all of these responsibilities. This woman was not offering the child instruction or constructive criticism. She should have spoken to the parent unless the child was alone.

Why is he under the assumption that a parent would even need to correct their child from cheering for the home team's players at a sporting event?
Posted on 9/26/18 at 3:25 pm to Chad504boy
He is either seriously dense or just likes arguing, but at the very least he is completely ignoring the fact that EVEN IF the woman had a legit gripe she should have taken it up with the parents and not a child

and then we got the elevator warrior up in here booting up to shorties yet totally fine with their child being disrespected and emotionally bullied by count strangers for possibly not being anything more than a little excited at a sporting event.

that was probably the most cringeworthy shite I have read on here in a while and you know that speaks volumes
