Just wanna point out that Newell Normand is a douchebag idiot
He can be, but I do expect (and he has so far) that he will challenge this lawyer and not just allow scapegoating

There if you look on the Orleans Parish Tax assessors website..Trosclair does own one or two of the adjacent buildings.
Don't know about another one.

So nothing new here except we can now confirm Kallais' legal argument will be "it wasn't me"
And for him, that might work.
But his two partners are also involved in the construction of the building as one of them is the GC and the other is a sub.
Of the three partners, Kallais probably has the least puckered butthole.

The limited liability company is a partnership between developer Mohan Kailas, who holds a majority stake; Todd Trosclair, owner of All-Star Electric; and Denzel Clark, president of Citadel Builders, the prime contractor on the project.

Citadel is the one that has to be locked up watertight right now.

Most interesting nugget so far is that 1031 (owner LLC) and the city both hired the same 3rd party engineers as consultants after the collapse
Seems like a conflict of interest?
Not necessarily. An engineer is required to always act first in the interests of public safety and then in the client's best interests and is allowed to provide professional services to two entities on the same project provided all interested parties receive full disclosure in writing of the arrangement and all interested parties agree in writing to the arrangement.
For instance, if two parties to a project have aligned goals, then it could make sense for the same engineering firm to provide services to both of them if everyone agrees.
Personally, I think that operating that way is a bad idea in general because today's aligned goals are tomorrow's points of contention, ESPECIALLY in circumstances such as these which are inevitably going to end up in a courtroom.

the tarp issue
This poor guy’s been there all through the holidays and nobody thinks twice. The tarp comes off and all of a sudden everyone’s hair is on fire to get him down. Did nobody give a shite before?

Contractor is a part owner of 1031, but he wasn't at fault as part owner.
Called it a construction defect case

The conflict of interest seems real enough. I get the mental gymnastics Kailas is doing to say 1031 isn't responsible, but I don't think he does anything to preserve Citadel during this.

I think a lot of folks assumed the bodies were more entombed. Legs hanging out amplified the reality for a lot of folks.

Did he say Kailas is personally paying all of the police/fire costs associated with this?
That's got to be a hefty fricking bill at this point

Wondering if it will max out his insurance doing this and removing the building.
The atty keeps saying they want to resolve the cases against them, but he is also saying they don't have any liability.

PR guy wants to make sure everyone knows Kailas is the good guy. Apparently Kailas is paying for the police and fire support. Paying for the logistics. Quit being racist to him. This building was intended to save that corner. Hired reputable contractors. This is going to take more time.
He should have brought up the fact that a judge just filed an injuction to prohibit Kailas from harassing the tentants of one of this other buildings in order to evict them to renovate the building into another hotel. Sounds like a good guy there...

That's a different management company than 1031.
