I think Helena could dance around for 10 secs or so and maybe get a sneaky jab in as she is likely quicker. However, you are correct about the outcome and Latoya would maul her quickly and violently after that. 15-20 secs max.

I think they were going to move forward with implosion until everyone got worked up over the other two buildings coming down and started with the 'conspiracy' BS and all.
Had to go back to the drawing board.
Came up with a plan that was going to take a long arse time.
Everyone whined about that one.
Came back again and said the implosion was on again.
It takes time to develop each plan. They likely didn't think the implosion would be nixed the first time around.

Sounds like there was a very active investigation at the federal level into the Safety and Permits office that is now incorporating the Hard Rock mess. I don't really think much of the current Inspector General, but I also don't think the City Council should launch an investigation that duplicates the same effort. A hearing today is fine for window dressing and to put more pressure on Cantrell, and keeping her away from any investigation is worth it if they can accomplish that. My guess is that at some point Latoya returns the campaign donations and then the gloves come off between her and the owners of 1031 Canal. At her press conference yesterday, it seemed like she realized that her political career was on the line here.
Gonna be an interesting couple of months/years ahead. And per usual, the lawyers will be the real winners.

Destroya released another scathing letter yesterday afternoon warning the council not to have this hearing and to stay out of it.

All that I can say is that it's one hell of an awkward moment when you realize that you moved to Las Vegas many years back...it's and still nowhere near as corrupt and effed up as the place that you left.
Keep in mind, this is a city whose last 2 Mayors have been...a former mob lawyer, then his wife.
