One has a room of kids with an adult and the other has a room of kids with an adult

If childcare is safe, why isn’t a 1st grade classroom?

It makes zero sense. Instead of kids being around the same group now they’re around 2 different sets of kids. Greater chance of spread.

When you control the press, you can do ridiculously stupid crap like this and not get called out for it.

Meanwhile, if someone on the wrong side of the narrative uses an incorrect noun it will be on the nightly news.

Worst one I've seen is Austin ISD.

Teachers say it isn't safe to return to school. Austin, being the liberal hippieville it is, agrees and goes virtual. School buildings empty.

Families with 2 working parents go predictably apeshit. In steps the Austin YMCA, who offers to run childcare for the affected children IN THE EMPTY SCHOOLS, allowing them internet access to do their virtual school lessons. AND the parents have to pay for this.

So, to recap, the children will attend school all day and be supervised by an adult, who will make sure they get fed, bathroom, recess, etc. The parents, who are already paying for the children to attend school via property taxes, are now being charged extra for their children to do the same damn thing they would have been doing if times had been "normal".

JFC, WTF?!?

There isn’t a daycare worker union.

Fewer children. Fewer adults. But you knew that.

Keeps the rich kids “safe” at home I guess. That’s the only difference I see between childcare and normal school.

Have no idea if NYC plan will have problems etc.. .

However, I remember a thread here on the NYC plan where 10+ pages did not offer a single person proposing another plan that allowed NYC to achieve any of the goals behind the plan:

A couple of the goals:

1. Allow nearly 50% of teachers to teach online -- the biggest issue with any other re-opening idea is what to do about the amount of teachers in high risk groups. No workable plan included forcing 60yo teachers or those recovering from cancer treatment last year or those with diabetes etc etc etc back into the classroom.

2. Reduce the usual school time traffic that severely crowds buses, trains etc by nearly 50% each day. . .
A major concern of most people in the city currently back to work is packed public transportation and mainly the sheer amount of (raucous) middle and high schoolers.

Again, I'm not even saying the NYC plan (1/2 in person, 1/2 online every day + daycare where necessary) is perfect or great or anything at all.

I don't have a better plan though.

However, seems par for this board how many simply criticized it without being able to offer any alternative way to address the issues above.
