Yes and generally sit around drinking wine, smoking cigarettes and shooting the shite in an animated fashion. Other than that they don't really do much.
It's a great life if you can pull it off.

Has nothing at all to do with population density, otherwise many other areas of the world would be slammed. Someone else posted this...

Food for thought - Japan has twice the population (126M vs. 60M) in about 1/3 more area, a greater percentage of elderly (30% > 60 yrs old), and they also are heavy smokers.

Yet they only have 924 confirmed cases versus 41,000 for Italy.

Many individuals in Italy's government have incentives to over report the numbers.

Most of China's national government has incentives to under report the numbers.

The fact that they're literally ignoring elderly people with it? No one over 80 being treated.

I know their healthcare system is highly regarded around the world by certain metrics but I spoke with someone whose relative needed critical care while on vacation there and she said both the hospitals they visited were complete shitholes and the level of care was near nonexistent. Could be an isolated incident but when shite hit the fan over there she said she wasn’t surprised at all.

There is nothing 'wrong' with Italy. They DO have a generally older population. As far as 'living on top of each other,' that is very common across Europe (eastern or western) especially in cities.

There is incredible suffering in Italy and I know a few people with family there who are going through a really rough time trying to stay connected with them and help. There is very little they can do from afar except pray.

And pray for that beautiful country we all should!

That is why it is very important to go out and vote. Vote bad leaders and you get bad results. We are very fortunate we don't have a liberal minded president that isn't jacking around like Italy.

Italy is a dirty country also. Its not uncommon to see piles of garbage on the side of the road randomly.

Well for starters Italy was so worried about virtue signaling that they encouraged Italians to hug random chinaman on the streets and boom.

So I guess it's more about the licking each other's faces all the time then?

None of this is unique to Italy. I agree with OP; it’s very strange

Overall numbers don't mean jack shite unless you compare pop size. Also we are testing more and more people everyday so cases will keep climbing but the mortality rate will keep dropping

Saying overall numbers don't mean shite is slightly naive. However, the number of cases per capita is also useful information. The US currently sits at 42 cases per 1M population, while Italy has a staggering 679. To give you an idea of case growth in the US, the number was around 3 about ten days ago.
