I have a middle school right down the street from my house. I make it a point to never ever ever pass by there at the beginning or end of the school day.
There is only one route to the house and it goes directly in front of the school.
One afternoon I had to get to the house to meet the HVAC guy just as the carpool mom's were getting lined up. I got in the left lane to pass the blocks long line of cars and a school teacher with a reflective vest, whistle and a radio jumped in front of my truck and started screaming at me to get to the back of the line. She wouldn't move no matter how many times I pointed past the school at my house. I finally was forced to get out of the truck and pointedly explain to her that I wasn't part of the school line and I needed to pass. She seemed miffed at me for being on a public roadway at that time of day.

this is one the few things that make me kind of get where *they're* coming from when they talk about white entitlement
white soccer moms, especially upper middle class, can be obnoxiously entitled human beings

You could cut over to College but you'll run into the same at WHAM. But on the way to cut through, you will hit FLAIM carpool. It's retarded.

I think schools would prefer that kids did not walk to school. When my son was at Woodlawn middle he said the kids waiting on the bus 2 blocks away went there. I would have said F it and walked. Especially if the bus was late. But then Tiger Bend there is a bit messed up.

why do they start lining up at 1:30 to sit in their cars an hour and a half until school lets out at 3:00?

I went to Walnut Hills back in the day. It was a small neighborhood school. Kids ride their bikes to school, walked or cams by car or bus and there was no problem.
Now it’s not a neighborhood school and all these little geniuses have to be driven to school.
I think half of our traffic issues in EBR could be solved if we returned to neighborhood schools and cut out all the budding and car pool stuff because kids zig zag all over the parish now.

Is the bus not good enough for little brahydyhn and brayleigh?
They don't run a school bus where I live. My wife asked why one time. I told her it was to keep the poors out of here.

Nobody forced me to take a bus anywhere.
Well, sometimes Mom would make me take a bus - or a streetcar.

My kid went to WHAM off college. There were times traffic would back up onto I-10. If they were smart they would have staggered the pickup times for carpoolers. Younger kids first, older ones at 3 minute increments.
People would line up over an hour early to save 15 minutes. Every. Damn. Day.

What do these people do with themselves all day sitting at home waiting to fire up the Denali XL to pick up Braxton and Paisleigh?
