Or, just a rent a car like a normal person should you do any extensive traveling. I do that now, and I don’t even have an EV.
I think you are missing the point dude was trying to make.

She looks like she could be Steven Tyler's daughter with that mouth. And considering his history, who knows, she may be.

no to mention 60% of the energy he charged with is supplied by coal and natural gas that puts out energy that travels through the power grid which has it's own inefficiency

EV technology isn’t built yet for road-trips. The end.
If you want an EV as a daily driver around town then it’s perfectly fine (assuming you have a 240V charger at home). Any sort of longer distance and it’s impractical.

But somehow, magically, EV’s are gonna fix this whole climate change issue, LOL.

Excellent and proper usage of the “legit wyhi?” Very legit. Not sure would have to see more.

Imagine a scenario in which a large area is under a mandatory evacuation order. Large numbers of people trying to charge EVs on the way to safety could present a real problem.

That never happens. Especially not during hurricanes

You could say the exact same thing about power to a typical gas station.
Except that locL station can run off a generator and pump fuel.
I also keep quite a bit of fuel on hand during emergencies. Half a dozen gas costs will get me a long way or run my home generator areas until I can figure something out.

I’m a fairly “green” Republican and seriously considering an X for my wife and around town driving in the next few years.
While EVs are 100% not road trip ready, it’s a net positive to have Tesla pushing everybody to make faster and cooler cars that go longer.
I think it’s always going to be a plus us to get away from gas vehicles for around town driving. It will be cheaper. I hope it can be more efficient someday as well. And I’m not some “O&G is evil and needs to be stopped” person because I’m not a Biden voter. O&G is essential to our way of life.
I guess I’m saying laugh at the people that think we’re there already but don’t laugh at the attempt to get us there.

In my view EVs are not the vehicle of choice for road trips and especially long ones. I want an EV truck. I just purchased an ICE vehicle for road trips. I'm leaving in two weeks for Wisconsin. I'm glad I can pay a fortune for gasoline to get there.

If i were a criminal I'd rob people at charging stations. You know they're gonna be stuck there for a while and potentially sleeping / on their phones with their guard down.

Read the route.
Nearest charger was in Slidell so she drove to Slidell. Should've come back on I-12 to Hammond but noooooo... stayed on I-59 E and wound up in Meridian trying to charge. Then continued to Birmingham. Caught a break at Mercedes dealership. Then went to Nashville. Yeah, that's the route she took to Chicago.
Then on the return, she figured out it was a better idea to take I-55. Finally.
Til she planned to charge in Winona. I kid you not. Had to Brandon to charge again before going to New orleans.

Well he probably did save a few bucks on fuel. 175 for 2000 miles is pretty cheap right now

I wouldn't take my Mazda Miata on a road trip to Chicago nor would I take an EV. That's just stupid. I would however take my Yukon with bullet proof windows and room to store gas cans and pee bottles so I don't have to stop for gas but a couple of times.
