I think the Iranian government is terrible, but I don't think they are some major threat to Americans. Even if we are successful, we have a terrible record at regime change.

If we’re going to have a debate about what’s happening today with these attack on Iran, let’s at least be honest about the nature of the Iranian regime and what has lead to this. To pretend that Iran is some sort of innocent actor who are being attacked for no valid reason is laughably absurd.

Iran is certainly bad and certainly trying to colonize their crescent of the Middle East or whatever they call it but does that mean we should get into another boots on the ground war in that hellhole? If this could be contained to surgical strikes and regime change a la Venezuela it would be a massive foreign policy coup but Trump is literally up there barking about boots on the ground.
It also doesn’t change the fact that we’ve been fed similar scripts before about weapons of mass destruction. Sure Iran is bad but is this being launched for the right reasons? Is there an exit strategy ?

If there is going to be boots on the ground, it will only be Special OPs operations like we had in Venezuela. I say that because if there was going to be a real invasion of Iran, we’d have had to have started staging forces weeks and months ago. And by forces, I mean multiple heavy divisions like we did in the Desert Storm 35 years ago. I'm talking hundreds of thousands of troops, including calling up reserve and national guard units across the nation. There have been no such deployments or call ups, so a boots on the ground general war in Iran simply isn’t happening.
