It’s happening everyday. You can just go online and look at the pricing for the vehicles used and new. There is no significant gap in the pricing like there used to be for certain vehicles.

As part of my compensation, I receive a monthly vehicle allowance. It stipulates my vehicle has to be less than 5 years old and under 200,000 miles. I wish I could lease but mileage would kill me. So, I’m stuck having to buy a new full size crew cab truck or full size SUV (they have a list we can choose from), and even though the vehicle allowance is over $700, by the time you factor in insurance, I’m still having to come out of pocket some.
Was this the part where we were supposed to feel bad for you?

I don' t think it's "happening everyday" where a 2 year old used vehicle is selling for more than a new one that is speced exactly the same.

I don’t need, nor am I looking for, your pity. I posted that because, while l can afford it, I think it’s absurd a new truck costs more than what my first mortgage cost a month.

For the average American, paying off a new car at current prices demands 42 weeks of income, according to data from Cox Automotive, up from around 33 the before the pandemic.
Incorrect...before JOE BIDEN

I mean, at some point these prices have to slow down.
Seems like we have been hearing this for years now about cars and housing market. Hasn't happened yet.

Don't worry, the auto manufacturers will soon have 10-year plans so you can get that new Toyota Carolla for only $500/month.

Do y’all think a 2022 Toyota Highlander for $30k is a good deal? Have 28k miles on it.
I would say hell of a deal, in today's market. Depends on how it is optioned, though. You have Highlanders that start around $40K, and some over $50K. On top of that, you can expect 200K miles+.

Where is the money coming from?
This is what I don’t get. People are a lot poorer than pre-pandemic, so how can they even afford to pay these prices in the first place?

You don’t think so??? Why do the oil companies have to make so so so much money???? Like I said they can cut the consumers a break and keep it at a flat rate And still make a killing
Jesus Christ, I thought you were smarter than this.

This one has less than 30k miles on it. Vin shows only owner ship transfers are between a former dealership and one it’s at now. It’s pretty basic though. I guess as basic as a Highlander can come but compared to wife’s 2010 Ford Focus, very nice
Originally was on sale for $44k

My 2016 XLT F150 4x4 cost $37.5K.
You could have probably gotten that back in a trade in circa 2020.
There was a Toyota Tundra Capstone on the showroom of a local dealer that was marked up 15 grand over MSRP. 15 friken grand.
I’ll soon be in the market for a sequoia to replace the family truckster. I’m not buying one from that dealer on principle. F that. I’ll drive 90 miles to Memphis or go to Birmingham or Nashville.
I’m a believer in the market.. but that’s just asinine. And the bad thing is… the market has recovered to the point 15k over MSRP should be laughed at by everyone. 15k is as much as I paid for BOTH of my first two vehicles I owned. And you get zilch for that.

How long was it for sale before they started dropping the price? I'm hoping we see more of this across the board soon.

Not to sound uppity, but I'm not putting any member of my family into one of those cars.

Everything is unsustainable. It’s all working up to some grand crisis which will force the mask-wearers to give up the rest of their freedom in exchange for security. And I guess the rest of us will just be Mad Max’ing it in the hinterlands, or just dead, more likely.

Dealership I’m getting it from bought it from another dealership in January and listed it for $38k. Went down to $30k this month.

I just found multiple Acura MDX's with sub-35k miles for $35k or less.
2020 for under $30k

Massive government spending fueling inflation and the Biden administration force feeding EV's led to the ridiculous car prices.
