West Monroe High School had 940+ students out last year around Thanksgiving with flu like symptoms, but they were testing negative for flu. Zero doubt in my mind that it was here waaaaaaaaay before they say it was.

It seems clear that it was here earlier than they thought, but I'm skeptical of these anecdotal stories. Otherwise hospitals would have been filling up a couple of months earlier than they did. If 940 WM students were spreading covid around the community, you'd have been seeing a wave of unexplained nursing home deaths in Monroe by late December-early January instead of March-April.

Why would anyone be surprised. It was an unreported virus. No test were available.
The way it rolled through the world it had to have already been around.

What are you talking about? Who takes a flu test? If you have flu symptoms, you take some medicine that mitigates flu symptoms, you don't take a flu test. Silly people, making up fake news

Agree. Had a hacking dry cough, congestion, slightly mild fever and sore throat in the first week of November 2019.

My VA Clinic doc ruled out flu and commented he was seeing a lot of similar symptoms. He even caught it. Lasted three weeks or so.

My bet is this crud was with us as far back as Aug-Sept of last year. The truth is elusive with these mutating viruses. And it was weaponized for political reasons. No, I don’t normally wear tin-foil hats.

They brought it to me at work. Two ended up with pneumonia.

I coughed my lungs up and ready fever and slept on a cut in my office area at home for a week. Flu negative. Drank a bottle of musinex.

Wife had it for four days after me.

This was two weeks after the LSU championship game when everyone came back.

I don't doubt you and all the other people in this thread had something, but did you all have covid? There are other non flu respiratory infections. My colleague had a nasty bug last winter that gave him a racking cough. He tested negative for flu. Looking back he was sure he had an early undiagnosed case of covid-until he tested positive for the real thing a few weeks ago.

You're right, we've had multiple covid "positives" and quarantines this year. I'm the only one in my shop that hasn't had to quarantine the year.

Still have 4 weeks vacation cause someone head to be there when the shop was empty.

That would be me. Additionally, I worked with someone whose extended family was from Wuhan. FML.

I know a few people who traveled to the west coast and one who went to a meeting in Korea last December/January and ended up with the “worst flu of their lives” upon return.

No doubt they had Covid and it was just assumed to be flu.

I popped with the flu 4 days after attending the NC Game. Was positive for flu, took Xofluza but fatigue and cough hung on for weeks. Think I had both.

hoax to influence the election

Just clarify your post:

Covid is real and in a small portion of cases very severe, even deadly.

But the media and democrat reaction and effort to destroy the economy was 100% a hoax to influence the election.

If any of you actually thinks you had it. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Donate blood. For 1 blood donations are needed, for 2, if you are a male it is healthy to donate blood if you eat a lot of red meat, and 3, they will test for covid antibodies which will verify and let you know if you had covid or not. I've given twice so far since they started testing for antibodies (negative both times ??). Scheduled to donate again in 2 weeks.

Was vacationing in hawaii at the end of january/beginning of February. Then new orleans for two weeks for mardi gras.

Got really sick during Hawaii trip. Wife got sick after New Orleans. We both had all of the symptoms.

Always wondered if it was covid. Didnt do antibody test until the early part of June. Tested negative, but I'm pretty sure we were both recovered after the timeframes of those antibody tests...was only 6 weeks out with the ones we took.

My GF and I both came down with the sickness after New Years. Spent Christmas in San Diego and had layovers and delays in Dallas and San Diego. I would blame it on the 8 double Tito’s watching the Oklahoma game but she wasn’t drinking. Both sick and both negative for the flu.

I believe it. My whole family went down hard the entire month of January. My wife and kids all got tested for flu and it came back negative. My wife also works in health care in the Seattle area where we already know it was spreading early on.

I never would have known I had anything more than a cold. The night I should have had a fever I drank 15 beers between the deer blind and cooking steaks at the camp. The next day I just felt tired and had congestion but slung 1500 pounds of corn to fill feeders and built new windows for a deer blind.
