Damn. I drink beer and lived in the ‘90s. Could’ve been me. Makes you think.

In 20 years we’ll be talking about how awesome the fake NFL was so entertaining, too. I still cannot believe people think it’s real,
You think the NFL is all scripted like wrestling?

Andre The Giant would have eaten Steve for breakfast

WWF bought out WCW and they changed the name to WWE...
You do realize that's not why they changed to WWE right.
Also, WWE essentially bought assets and tape library from Time Warner....they didn't take on talent contracts. What talent came over had to renegotiate....which is why you didn't see Steiner, Sting, Hogan, Nash, etc in WWE at the time of the "purchase".

Football is not scripted.

Yes, it was. My friends and I would get together every Monday night for Raw. It always felt like such an event. Good times.

Andre was one of the greatest sports entertainers of all time up there with Rock, Austin, and Hogan....but Vince pushed him way too long. His prime was the 70s....that big dude could do some shite back then ..probably the best bumping giant ever.

I thought I read before they changed to WWE so they could market globally. With WWF they could not market in specific countries.

Correct ....they did it in response to a lawsuit from the World Wildlife Foundation when they started truly making a global push. The consensus is that World Wrestling Federation could have won but this is when Vince first started to prefer sports entertainment to wrestling so they went with it.

Sigh I wish it were still like this today.

Attitude era was amazing. Add in ECW was still going and you had some amazing shite going on. The technical aspect is better today as are the athletes. The writing isn't near what it was.

I think the beer bath is overrated because Cole was on commentary instead of JR. I don't like how they played Austin's entrance theme either.
Contrast that with Austin coming out on the zamboni about 6 months earlier in the Joe Louis Arena - they said it was louder than when the Red Wings won the Cup earlier that year. "STONE COLD!!! STONE COLD!!! STONE COLD!!!"

I miss how the crowds used to be. It's almost like church watching Raw today. Loved how WCW would encourage people to throw garbage in the ring when the NWO had just beat down someone.

The panda losers originally sued them in 94 and they were supposed to have stopped using WWF outside of North America (particularly in Europe). They didn't, so the panda losers won.

First hour of Tuesday mornings at the office was standing around talking about Raw from the night before. Great memories.
I was in middle school when Rock threw Austin off the bridge into the lake and we were all talking about it at school the next day wondering if it really happened.

Everything is so scripted nowadays (even on NXT which Vince and Kevin Dunn stay away from). And they have to stay PG because of their deal with Mattel.
There's a good chance a women's "match" will main event WM. Absolutely pathetic.

I preferred the 80s, but the Monday Night Wars were the highest peak the business will likely ever see.

I was long done with wrasslin by the '90s, but I did watch consistently during the '70s.
Even up to the mid 80s for me, but there was not even a glimmer of good acting after that and became impossible for me to watch.
