They should have all just left the vehicles and come back the next day, saying they were outside discussing insurance and about to call the cops, but then the UFO appeared.

It’s brilliant really. Nobody winds up being at fault because they were hit by a drunk driver.

I wonder if any of them had whisky plates to begin with. If you get a DUI in Wisconsin, you get what is known as a whisky license plate so everyone knows what you have done lol

Carry a bottle with an unbroken seal with you. As soon as the cops show up, open the bottle, making sure they see, and start drinking.

“I don’t know about the other 2 drivers, but I started drinking after the crash, to calm my nerves.”

the driver of a 2011 Ford F-25O who had been traveling southbound on Highway 32 drifted into the northbound lane and struck a 2000 GMC Yukon head-on just before 3 a.m. Moments later, a northbound 2013 Chevrolet Equinox struck the stalled vehicles, causing the Yukon to burst into flames

quote:

Kraig Herbrechtsmeir, 56, of Racine was identified as the driver of the F-250 and is expected to be charged with his first drunk driving offense

quote:

The other two drivers were identified as Christopher Sanchez, 33 of Racine and Herbert Aguirre-Lopez, 45 of Kenosha. Aguirre-Lopez is expected to be charged with his third drunk driving offense, while Sanchez is facing his first

I'm really curious how their insurance will handle this

I believe you are mixing it up with Minnesota. It's an interesting law though, drivers with whiskey plates can be pulled over without cause at any time so the cops can check them.

W for Whiskey, looks like these were signed and hung up like trophies

Not an attorney, but I think that depends if it's a no-fault State. If so, all insurances have to cover their own expenses because even the driver of the Yukon will be viewed as having some fault since he was drunk. If not, the Yukon driver gets the DUI, but his insurance may be off the hook since the F-250 drifted into his vehicle.

As a dumb 22 year ago old in Wisconsin, I got a DUI as I rear ended some chick. Not major damage. Tried to convince her to not call the cops. She refused......

She got a DUI too.

It's a right of passage, like getting divorced or having your first heart attack. My dad always said that you can tell who just got a DUI or had a heart attack by who was suddenly biking/walking around town.

ETA: I stupidly got mine in 2008 and it was off my record in 5 years.
