This awful thing looks like a next gen Swatch watch...yep, I rocked a few of those in the mid-80's.

If the liquid level marks the minute, what marks the hour? Or does the liquid level mark both as it progresses, but is too small to accurately detect so the additional hand is needed to mark the minutes?

No. I like a watch I can quickly glance at and actually see the time.

I absolutely would wear an HYT but would prefer a Ressence for an out of the box watch. I have seen the HYTs a couple of times at Basel. I like the H1 the best and it really is ready to tell the time at a glance once you understand the display. The HYT is a watch that would be fun to wear to a Red Bar GTG it would attract more attention than a manual wind Daytona.

H1

Ressence Type 3 I love a oil filled display.

I'm not sure if I really like that or really hate it, but it definitely causes an emotion, which I guess is good and the point of something like it.

The liquid marks the hour just like an hour hand on a normal analog watch. It is progressive and not a jumping hour. The subdial displays the minutes. The first watch in the OP is showing 8:32.

I like the Ressence watches and, in particular, the white one is very cool:

Uh, unless they forgot to adjust for DST, it's 7:32.

Also, just noticed that the hour numbers flip in orientation in the upper and lower hemispheres. It looks like it goes 6-7-8-6

Here is a time lapse so people can see how the display move, I think they are very cool. Another interesting thing about them is they are run by a basic ETA movement with an added module designed to run the display. The watch also has no crown.

Nope. It looks like children’s jewelry.

And I don’t do jewelry.
