Would you rather save your holiday vacation days or use them as they come?

Most people that work full time jobs in America have the same holiday vacation days; Christmas, New Year's, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day as well as some localized and religious holidays like Mardi Gras and Good Friday.

Would you rather take some or all of your holiday time off and combine them for one long vacation or do you like it spread out?

For me, I wouldn't mind combining the single day holidays; Independence, Memorial, Labor, Good Friday, and Mardi Gras into one week long vacation.

I’d rather just be independently wealthy and not have to make that decision.

Nope. I'm good with the regular paid holiday schedule. I get New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day plus 3 floating holidays to use whenever I want. I'm also up to 4 weeks vacation so I can drop a few vacation days around these Holidays to make them last a little longer.

They aren’t vacation days. It’s off with holiday pay.
Hell I get four weeks off a year and don’t even use them all so I carry over to the next year:

I don't know of a company that would allow that. If it is a company holiday and everybody is scheduled to be off, why would they allow you to work that day so you could take that day off at another time.

You're talking about paid holiday leave as opposed to paid vacation leave. Two different things and not gonna happen.

I have 6 weeks of PTO this year so I enjoy the holidays when I get them. We used to have 4 weeks of vacation 1 week of sick and were not allowed to roll anything. Now we can roll a week and you get all your time on June 1 vs it accruing all year.

Sitting 60 hours PTO right now. When I get to 80 in about 5 or 6 weeks I'll take a week off and then a few extra days in nov/Dec. I'll roll over the max of 40 into the new year.

When you add in holidays and inclimate weather I get about 40 paid days off a year. It's spread out enough I don't NEED any big breaks.

I keep at least 35 days in my PTO bank and accrue 10.2 hrs bi-weekly. So I pretty much do as I want.

Typical Americans will work about 250 days a year (50 weeks X 5 days)
I've wondered if I'd take the offer to work all 250 in a row from January 1 to September 7 (day 250) and then take off the rest of the year.

Yeah I know what you're saying isn't feasible, but there are times I'd prefer a week off rather than a bunch of 4 day weeks.

Sounds nice in theory having that huge break, but damn, almost 9 straight months of no weekends or days off? I prefer it spread out. Too much random shite pops up throughout the year that I would never get done if I was working ~60+ hour weeks. And the 3.5 month break might get boring after a while, especially if all my friends/family are working a normal schedule

I’ve built up 150 hours of PTO, didn’t take but 1 week of true vacation and a couple of long weekends last year.

Taking over half of August off and will still have plenty left over

I’m not too crazy about taking July 4 when it falls mid-week, so I wouldn’t mind banking that one.
