DeSoto County and the Coast have a lot of trashy pockets and people.

Are we insinuating that the Jackson Metro doesn't? Madison is at most 4 miles from the city limits.

Edit - Just to be clear Midland is worse.

Change it to Amarillo vs. Madison and we can have a debate. Midland/Odessa sucks arse. Amarillo is kind of cool.

Same amount of money? Madison, MS

Hell, I’ve heard the Coal is significantly cheaper in Madison too, so even if I was making less money probably Madison.

The two places are not really comparable at all, but I thought it could be interesting.

What made you think this would be interesting?

If you have kids, Madison has an excellent public school system. Their public high schools, especially Madison Central, regularly produced high ACT 30+ scores and National Merit Scholars comparable to prestigious expensive private schools.

This current academic class Madison Central has 24 National Merit Semifinalists and 14 Commended Scholars.

The disadvantage of Madison is that it's in Central Mississippi, and there are very few things to do even right next to the capital city of the state.

Unless you have a boat or a kid playing football at Central or MRA.

As a whole midland might be trashier but the nice parts of midland seem a lot better than the nice parts of Amarillo.

WFH or ROW would probably be my options in Mississippi.
But, I’m really not a big fan of the way Texas is going.
Maybe I should look west and not east.

Madison. Easy question.

I guess if I were in the upstream oil and gas business I'd choose Midland.

Nobody is going to pay me enough money to want to visit Midland Texas ever again much less live there ever in my lifetime. Without knowing a damn thing about Madison I choose that.

I live in Ridgeland, about a mile south of the Madison city line. Would absolutely stay here vice moving to Midland, TX.

You got any inroads on a place for Junior to stay when he starts Hinds County? Kid is an aspiring plumber and wants to attend their construction/plumbing program. Not sure if the school will have enough dorm rooms for out of state kid.

Raymond (Hinds Community College) or Clinton (Mississippi College) would have housing for college students. Start there.

Madison city government has their shite together. Good Police department. Their Planning and zoning doesn’t allow for trashy shite to move into town.

Madison by a mile

If God was going to give the US an enema, He'd stick it in Midland TX
