We just had a 20 year old woman die from the flu here in PHX. Mother of two. Was diagnosed with the flu...2 days later she is dead.

We are already seeing a very active flu season out here. Get your flu shots people!

People who talk about a 24 hour flu or an athlete playing despite having a “touch of the flu” don’t know what the hell they are talking about.

If you get influenza, it puts your arse down. You don’t play basketball or go to work. Now, if you have the flu shot and get flu anyway, the symptoms may be fairly mild and allow you to function. I’ve had it both ways. With the shot is tolerable. Without it leaves you begging for death.

I had influenza B in feb 2016. I swear for about 2 days I thought i was gonna die. My kidneys were so swollen and i was at 102 for 3 days. Whole thing lasted about 2 weeks and I still feel like my full appetite has never returned.

5-day cold.

I hate throwing up.

I'm the opposite. I'd much rather throw up than to be coughing and clogged with snot for 5 days straight.

Gotta go with just 24 hours. 5 days of sickness sucks. I can gut out the flu for 24 hours

Yea not really sure why half the posters can’t understand OPs question. Seemed pretty straightforward it is a hypothetical type question.

Yea I will say my youngest tested positive for type A on Wednesday morning and started tamiflu within 12 hours of onset of fever. He’s already feeling good starting this morning. Problem is wife came down with it Thursday and other son on Friday. Frick everything right now.

Y'all are using these terms interchangeably when it shouldn't be .

Stomach virus is not the same as the flu / Influenza .

I've had both , and both will put you down for a week minimum .

The only way you can get the stomach virus is from shite or vomit . So , you either take a shite in a public restroom , don't wash your hands , and put your hands in your mouth and contract the virus , or you just visited a area where someone was throwing up / shitting , and virus particles are in the air .

Think about how inconsiderate and gross people are to go in public while sick .

The Influenza virus is contracted by someone who sneezed and the particles are still in the air , etc . - it's completely respiratory , although taking certain
Medications will give you symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting.

People suck . Yes I'm melting .. I've had both , and I don't wish it on anyone .

People in here a getting the flu(influenza) confused with the stomach flu(which isn't influenza related at all)

The flu last multiple days(body aches, fever, chills, congestion), the stomach flu last 24 hours(body aches, fever/chills, throwing up/diarreah)

I’ve never had a flu shot, and never had the flu. Can you explain this?

Irl

Colds last 13 days

I doubt any flu is over in 24 hrs.

Since you are making this up, i'll go with 1 day really sick and back to 100% on day 2.
