I was hit by yellow jackets 5 times mowing grass one time. I'll take the 50 fire ants and just about anything else over that.

When I was a kid, I was drinking a coke at Tannehill State Park in Alabama. A yellow jacket landed on the rim of the can, and I went to take a drink. It stung me on the roof of my mouth and my whole head started swelling. I’m not even allergic. I’d easily take 50 fire ants over even 1 wasp.

I'm deathly scared of wasps, and avoid them like the plague.

I was stung six times at once by wasps, and stepped on a red ant pile. Both were equally painful, but the ant recovery was much worse; I’ll go with the wasps again if it must be one or the other.

Off topic, but sorta related...
In college I bought an electric catfish, about 20-24 inches long (and fat as hell) for a 75 gallon aquarium I had.
Of course first thing I did was shake the plastic bag up real good before dumping him in the tank to piss him off. Then reached in to grab him to see just how electric he was. This was late 90s before Google and shite and I had never heard of an electric catfish until that day at the pet store and thought they were making shite up. That sob knocked me on my arse when I grabbed him.

Kill every red wasp and yellow jacket that you see, especially in the spring, but leave the mud daubers and black/yellow wasps alone.

I have been lit up by both. Wasp hit me about a dozen times and the damn ants more than 2 dozen for sure.
Wasp hurt more at first but also over fastest whereas the damn ant bites hurt then itch etc. I would take the wasp bites

One time when I was about 12 I was waiting to the kiddie dance at the church. I thought it would be fun to throw rocks at a wasp nest. I smacked the nest with a rock and wasp.took a dive Right into the bridge on my nose. shite swole up with the quickness and shut down my night at the dance.
