Basically the same job and same hours Would be looking at about a 30-35% raise.

I think what may hold me back is I have no family there just a couple of friends. All of my family are within a 45 min drive of Baton Rouge.

There is no way this is a serious question.

Cap One? I know someone who did and hated it. He was just laid off a couple of weeks ago

Only steers and queers come from Texas and you don't look like you have horns.

You need to add a lot more info.

How old are you?
Is the job in Plano or somewhere else and you would live in Plano?
Do you have kids?
Etc.

Plano has a lot of advantages but it's definitely not the same Plano that most people think of. The demographics have shifted dramatically and you'll see the younger school classes with >80% Indian/Asian enrollment. The demographic change can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you make of it.

If you are looking for the 1980's Plano experience, you'll need to go to McKinney or Prosper.

DFW has more employment opportunities if you don't like the new job. Family is one of the few advantages BR has over DFW. It's harder to get to LSU games but that's only a few weekends out of the year. DFW has hunting/fishing available, just different kinds than you're used to if you hunt or fish.

I would move.

Man. tough call.

Other than the huge initial bump, do you have more long-term career upside in Plano?

Or, if you stay in BR, is it possible in a few years to be making close to the Plano money?

I place a high value on family and friends.

Plano is consistently ranked as one of the top places to raise a family and to live in general. The worst part is the traffic and the tolls; I was living in Howe (north of Plano) and commuting to Irving (damn near Ft. Worth) on a daily basis - never again.

But it usually keeps moving constantly, even if it's not particularly fast. Back when I worked in Plano Tammy Dombeck and her massive T's were doing the traffic on channel 5.
