The bad thing is they cost as much as many slab homes and depreciate like a car.
The plan is to buy one about three year old for that very reason. I read all RV have "maintenance issues" even the new ones.

Grew up on that lake. Grandparents had a 65ft houseboat at Center Hill marina and then at Hidden Harbor by Smithville. They sold it in the recession, but some of their friends still live out there. Nothing like waking up to still water and a light breeze.

My buddy lived on his boat for a few months after his divorce. He said the worst thing about it was the constant dampness.

i own one houseboat and half owner of another. ours aren't drivable like some, just a small house built on barge. boat access only. not sure how long i could live there full time, but, i enjoy being there about as much as i do being anywhere. its on the white river in arkansas. so for me, its houseboat all the way

I would love to buy a live on boat and spend a year to two years travelling the Great Loop. The only problem is that you have to have a capable deckhand and my wife is NOT deckhand material.

The Great Loop

Me too. Center Hill is a gorgeous lake. Now live about 5 minutes from Percy Priest and it just ain't the same.

Definitely houseboat, because of the implication.

Also, I wanted to be Captain Ron growing up, so that would be badass.

discovered I could buy a blue watering sailing catamaran for about the same money.

Saw a fine Catamaran last week. Thing must have been 90-100' and was just super wide. Two stories of living/deck space. Wish I would have taken some pics because it was beautiful and just very impressive.

Looked at a 52' similar to it the other day out of curiosity and it was $1.8 million.

Saw some multi-million dollar houseboats this weekend down in Grand Isle/Fourchon that I would move into in a heartbeat.

How could you finance something that expensive?
The value on mh and hb drop every year. Maybe they are lease only.

I couldn't in a million years

I was just answering your question in a hypothetical manner.
