You live in the north end or bench, don't you?

In general I wouldn’t want to live in the Suburbs. I’d rather be closer to where I work, socialize, workout, and go out to eat. Ideally that is close to a college campus, country club, and an airport.
I have actually never been to Seattle even though I have a house in Boise and get there some.

The only thing I said that was incorrect was that it was a “law”. Besides that everything else I said was correct.

A relative lived on Puget sound. About 30 miles from Seattle as the crow flies but 1.5 hours by road. It's pretty nice and summers are glorious, but the weather is dreary over half the year. You rarely see the sun between October and April.

The houses in your pictures all cost $1M plus so no. I'd rather spend that money 20 acres and a house in Georgia and be left alone.

A 500K salary makes that pretty easy to swing

This is what your first post said:
quote:

Not too long ago, they enacted a law where if 911 is called for a crime like robbery or burglary, the dispatcher can’t send any law enforcement and has to send mental health services.

This is from your link:
quote:

Mental health professionals will soon be dispatched to some 911 calls that would usually be handled by Seattle police. This is due to a new alternative 911 response pilot program that is set to launch in October. The pilot program will allow dispatchers to send mental health professionals to certain crisis calls instead of police officers.

quote:

The pilot program will have six mental health professionals who will work in teams of two to respond to calls where dispatchers believe police are not needed, like wellness checks on people downtown showing mental health crisis symptoms.

Yup. Same with Oregon. Get outside the proggy shithole cities, and it's baw central.

Hence the Greater Idaho movement from eastern Washington and Oregon. Will never happen, but tells you quite a bit about the difference between rural WA/OR and urban WA/OR.

For that house, assuming it's on Mercer Island? 3M is still way too low.

I noticed you picked pictures where it’s nice and sunny when in reality it looks like this most of the time in Seattle..

I lived in Seattle for 2 years. It was during COVID so I think my experience is jaded.

It was the worst 2 years of my life. I am not super right wing, I try to get along with everyone. However, there was an extreme entitlement from a lot of people that lived there. I forgot the amount of times my car was stopped by bikers when I was trying to get groceries to let a protest go by.

My saving grace was a friend I made who was from Mississippi that also hated it.

The area is beautiful though. I lived two blocks from the water and the late summer sunsets were amazing. I’d go to the beach with my dog on the weekends.

Everything was so expensive though. Gas was wildly high, just go to to dinner was insanely expensive. Even though the food was top tier. Incredible food scene. I want to go back just to hit up all my food spots.

Winters were rough. The 8am sunrises and 3pm sunsets are no joke. It feels worse because of the clouds.

Not talking about the water front house, that’s like 10m im talking the suburbs around like Bellevue and Kirkland.

Can go cheaper more north but that ruins the good suburb thing.

Also this area is 40% Asian and they are politically right leaning but won’t say it. It’s the whites that’s the issue

Definitely. Everyone needs to read boys on the boat. Great story on rural Washington baws in the 1930s

Oh I know. Wife's sister lives in one of the burbs, and their 3 bedroom house built in the 60's is worth around 750k.

Entitled, privileged white progressives are 100% the problem in this country, from coast to coast.

I lived in Seattle, and I loved it. I can see my condo in that photo. It has so much to offer, outside of the politics.

Snowboarding every weekend in season. Alki beach was legit. Summer daylight until 10pm made for lots of outdoor activities. Amazing seafood... King Crab right off the boat?? Coastline, Mountains, so much to see. I would just load up and drive some weekends and tour new places, including Canada. If you like to hike, camp, fish... you'll like it.

Outside of Seattle you will find a lot of regular Joes, honestly. And I kid you not... you'll even find them in the city, but they try to hide it. Find a place to watch SEC football and you'll feel better.

The homeless situation is so gross that I won't even take my family to visit anymore, though. I used to take pride in the fact that friends and family were ALWAYS wanting to come visit. Every year after moving back East, I'd still go back for July 4th or SeaFair. I miss it.
