It's easy enough to just say something's bad or throw stones as some are doing. But what you're saying shows a high level of empathy and understanding for all parties... and shows you have a good understanding of what temptation is. Props to you for creating responsible boundaries in that friendship.

It had to have been initiated by the wife's best friend. It'd be hard to see the husband making the first move in that situation because that would be a bell that couldn't be unrung. If the best friend doesn't go for it, then you know she's going straight to the wife.

I don't think it takes balls to cheat. It's just a lack of self-control and willpower. It's weakness.
It's easy for a lot of married men to virtue signal about cheating because no one wants to frick them anyway. For the married guys who do have options (that aren't hookers), you know it's just a matter of willpower and values.
