re: Would you give up a decade to spend just a day with a loved one you have lost?

A decade is a really long time. I mean, shite. I certainly would not give up a decade to sit around the house doing crossword puzzles and watching Golden Girls reruns with my grandma.

I was thinking about this yesterday as it was the one year anniversary of grandmother passing away.
I didn't get to say goodbye since I live across the country. But I did get to send her one last birthday card the week before, so at least she knew I was thinking about her.
As I was looking at the nearly full moon and reminiscing, I realized that she is now with her husband who passed away 45 years ago. She spent almost half of her 97 years on this Earth without the man she loved and married. I am certain that she is happier now than the last few years she spent in a deteriorating body in assisted living.
That shifted my thoughts from sadness that she was gone to happiness that she was with her husband again, a man I never got to meet. And that one day, whether tomorrow or in 100 years, I would see them both.
It did make me wonder, when you get to heaven do you see people as they looked when you last saw them, or as they looked in their youth, or as just some sort of spirit?
Anyway, as for the OP, I would not give up a decade to spend one more day. However, I will try to spend more hours and days with my loved ones that are still here. Flights are not expensive and work will always be there tomorrow.

You can’t control beyond the veil. It’s a gift, for us to interpret as we will

shite yeah. I'm dying young anyway, and my pawpaw was a mf'ing boss. I once seen that dude pull a 22 rifle on some yoots that brought pistols, and subsequently ditched the car they drove in. Nothing in my life has been as fun as watching him popping 22 rounds off in the air on Tchoup while three black dudes were running away faster than they thought they could
Eta: They bumped us and were trying to steal his caddy

I would give up my 11th and 12th decades to bring back my childhood pet hamster.

I miss my Mama every single day but I know she would not want me to make a sacrifice that would deny my kids . Time is the most precious gift...

I give up probably $30k-$50k a year to stay in my job. I've had offers from other companies and when I bring up my wishes for flexibility and vacation, it always ends there.
I have a job where my boss knows I do my shite and doesnt have to worry about me. If I wanted to work from home, okay. I get to put my daughter on the bus every day and I'm home when she gets off. I get to coach her softball team. I often fill in as a class sitter at her school. I get 6 weeks paid vacation days a year.
As a son growing up in a divorced family who had to bum rides to/from baseball practice and if my dad came to see a baseball game, I'd be wishing he and his wife wasn't drunk, I wouldn't give this up if they doubled my salary.
I wish I had more time wit h that I have lost but damnit I'm trying my best to make every minute count with the ones I still have.

My friend (killed himself) and my grandpa (old age).
I'd give up anything I had to be able to see them again.

A whole decade is too steep a price to pay.

To even hold my 7 month old again I would give up the rest of my life.

No
That's selfish
People that I love would lose a decade with me. That hardly seems fair to them.

I’d give everything I have or will ever have up to and including my life to allow my children one more breath.
As far as giving away time to spend with other passed loved ones the answer is no. They wouldn’t want me to either.
