re: Would you ever consider buying a house where a murder occurred ?

My MIL bought a murder house for about 1/3 of pre-murder market value. Wife got off from killing her husband; police never found the murder weapon. We ended up helping replant the landscaping that the police had torn up.
It was in a good neighborhood; within five years all the neighbors but one had moved away (with their jobs). Now, about 20+ years later, no body remembers the murder but it was headlines for several weeks.

My buddy bought a repo house sight unseen. His dad said it was a good deal, and his dad is the type of dude you believe in these kinds of situations.
The night after he bought the house, he called me. "Wanna come see the house I just bought?"
It was around 10 pm. There was no electricity in the home, so we had to use flashlights.
We're walking around the house, and I ask "What are these stains on the wall?" There's a big splotch on the wall in the dining room, another stain on the floor, and a trail that leads to the living room.
Blood. It was blood. And it was everywhere. Blood splatters on the wall. A stain of what was once a pool of blood on the carpet.
Freaked me the frick out. Turns out that the couple that lived there, the wife met a man online. When the husband found out, he grabbed the computer keyboard and beat her half to death with it.
She didn't die, so it wasn't a murder house. But pretty close.

There is a home on Greenwell Springs Rd. near where N.Sherwood Forest intersects with it. In 1983 this mentally ill person who once lived in that home as a child entered the home through the front door in early afternoon.
He picked up a kitchen knife on his way to the patio where a young wife and mother of one child was sunbathing. Brought her into the home raped her, strangled her, and stabbed her in her bedroom.
The description of the scene was that she was stabbed many times with blood splatter on the ceiling, walls floor, and pooled in the bed where she died.
Later that afternoon someone driving along Greenwell Springs Rd. stopped because the victim's child was wandering around the front yard near the road.
When they went inside they found her. The person who killed her was caught, but I don't remember the specifics of how. Anyway that house has sold a couple of times since then. I'm not sure if the owners know what happened there.

I'll kill somebody in the house if it means I'm going to get a good enough deal.

Depends on the area and price.

Our house was built in 1904. To our knowledge there’s been 3 deaths in the house. Only creepiness was when a UberEats driver showed up with food we didn’t order that was for a woman with the same first name as one of the deaths. Creeped us the frick out.
Didn’t really think twice about buying it.

Within a mile from me a husband shot his wife and 2 children in the house then went off into the woods about 50 miles away and did himself in. That house sold within 9 months after the incident. It would not bother me once disclosed.

One of your friends got one over on you it sounds like. Probably easy to find the names and then just give it to the Uber guy.

Unless their was something physically wrong with the house, I wouldn't hesitate. It's not like the house made them do it.

Yep. Wouldn’t even think twice about it
