I just feel like leaving the house/shelter would be the biggest risk for anyone. You'd be far more likely to get sniped by a guy in a tree than you would be in some kind of Rambo-esque confrontation. 90% of the kills would probably go down like that.

In the OP scenario, of course I would, but if it was just me and my family alone, I don't think we'd last long. People who formed alliances and small militias would have the best chance at making it through the ordeal alive.

I would kill them and take it. There is no reason to leave someone around that is a potential future threat. I would try to remain off grid with my band of people and everyone I encountered would have to be killed because they are a threat.

Its like the muslims. They are now threatening that soon they will be beheading american soldiers and their family in their own homes in the US. IF that starts to happen people will start killing muslims and they will not try to determine which muslims are good and which ones are bad because there is no point in doing that.

If you have a bacterial infection you take antibiotics. Antibiotics do not discriminate between good bacteria (which our body is full of) and bad bacteria. The antibiotic just kills bacteria.

You have to become the antibiotic and kill what you come in contacts with whether good or bad because you have no way of knowing what the potential outside threat is.

Pretty dumb move. For starters, they may prove to be useful additions to your "band". What if you kill them and then realize while going through their stuff this person was a doctor, engineer, or solider? Assess them first and if they will add to the overall well being and security of your band, integrate them in instead of throwing away a potentially very valuable resource and ally.

If that didn't change your perspective of what people will do and how quickly they will do it, nothing will.

To top if off, the local cops quickly disintegrate and the ones left become thieves.
