In that case you could offer her and her kids protection in exchange for her sharing her provisions. I'm sure in this situation she would be looking to find some sort of safety and stability for her and her kids.

It is a simple concept.

Pretty dumb move. For starters, they may prove to be useful additions to your "band". What if you kill them and then realize while going through their stuff this person was a doctor, engineer, or solider? Assess them first and if they will add to the overall well being and security of your band, integrate them in instead of throwing away a potentially very valuable resource and ally.
Wouldn't you have to ask yourself this, if they have a doctor, an engineer and a soldier, why do they need me. The correct answer is to look at everyone as an enemy.

The first thing I would do is leave the city and get to the hunting club and get way out in the wood. Plenty of resources there to last for a little while anyway. Deer population would last longer than about 6 months. I would wait in the woods while most of the people in the cities killed themselves off which we take about 2 months. People in the cities would begin to form tribes in order to exist but the tribes would war with each other for a year or two and then eventually people would turn on each other within their own tribe. You would have to go off the grid to survive in my opinion.
You and every other person that has a hunting camp or family land out in the sticks, which is a substantial number of people.
The roads would be a parking lot preventing travel of any substantial distance. Most people would try to escape the big cities meaning that your deer population likely wouldn't last all that long.
This type of plan would work well in a place like Montana where the overall population is low. A place in the south wouldn't be nearly as secluded as people think.

Thats probably right. I have a helicopter and land with a bunker.

I have a very defensible farm where I can grow food and raise stock. There are enough like-minded people in the area to band together and prevent anything short of a military takeover. And if that happens, we're all toast anyway.

Question is deeper than some of you are realizing
Not really, because it's a question of survival. Most people would do just about anything to survive.

Predator or prey...easy choice.

So I think a better question would be: what's the lowest caliber "disaster" that would justify killing other people to support yourself, in your mind?
I'd say another nip slip during a Super Bowl halftime show. I'd probably start looting before the fourth quarter.
Hmm... there seems to be a recent spate of reactionary violence and looting by some people in response to people they don't know being killed by police... your almost absurd joke is almost not absurd.

That's one way to get your daily protein.
