quote:

I drove a truck with the GM 2.7 and it wasn't bad at all. Peak torque is from like 1500-4500rpm so you're just about always in the torque curve.

People talk smack about the smaller displacement turbos, but that 2.7L engine in the Silverado and Sierra is a damn rocket. It's 20% more powerful than it was for 2021 too. 72 lb ft more torque than before. They designed it to replace the base model 4.3L V6 engine, but it's now getting to the point where it's threatening the 5.3L V8 in terms of power output.

That will be the only engine in the new Colorado too. So 310 horsepower, 430 lb ft of torque in a little mid sized truck. It's getting harder to justify having a diesel engine option at that point.

Yup, I love the look of a regular cab short bed truck.

I had a charcoal grey silverado Z-71 reg cab short bed. I chromed it out, leveled it, and put mud tires on it and it was sharp as hell.

ETA: It had the 5.3L V8. frick a V6 truck.

My first truck was a 2000 F150 single cab regular bed standard transmission. Had a bench seat and vinyl floors. Manual windows and mirrors. I loved that truck.

That’s how everyone with a truck rolled back in my day. It’s all there was.

I like them. My first vehicle was a an 89 singlecab sidestep Chevy. I loved the ones they put the 454s in. There are a few upgrades and customizations to be made from stock but can be setup real nice.

I'd drive it if I didn't have small children to haul around occasionally. If they were grown enough to ride in the front seat I would. Would totally get one for my son to drive, not brand new of course.

My first truck was a 96 regular cab long bed chevy. Cost $15k brand new. Wouldn’t drive it today as I need more space but that full Bench seat was great for some road head

Wow!

My '91 Silverado regular cab cost $5,700 and that was with PW&PL cloths seats and a decent stereo/cassette player

I'd drive a regular cab short bed if it was old and cheap. I'd rather a 4 door mid size truck over that

The other day I was thinking about how, in 2001, I had the option to buy a brand-new new regular cab short bed Silverado 4x4 with a stick shift (4.3 Vortec V6) or a slightly-used 1998 four-door S-10 Blazer. Truck was slightly more total price, but with 0% financing all the rage then, the note would have been actually within a couple dollars of the Blazer - both through GMAC.

I went with the Blazer. That was the single crappiest vehicle I have ever owned in my entire life. (Dex-Cool )

Now, there are almost zero stick-shift trucks available, (Tacoma, Gladiator, or work-truck level Colorado or Canyon) and zero full-size trucks with a stick available.

Yes. It would need a camper shell.

I sure would. Most people with extra cabs just throw shite and junk back there. That's what the bed is for. Kinda like people who have a garage packed to the rafters with junk and have to park in the driveway.
