For not much more you can buy a full size. A basic, XL F150 4 door can be had for about 30k(maybe less...), brand new. The problem isn't that cheap trucks aren't available, it's that in the financing age middle class people think they need leather and ridiculous trim levels to be normal.

The Tacoma, absolutely.

I'd pull the rest of those off the used market.

They are good for exactly what they are used for. Corporate trucks or work trucks that do not do heavy jobs. We have a few of them running around and I'm sure they do fine. Not part of my area so have not looked into what all we use them for.

People are too fat now for those small trucks.

Yep. I'm 6' 195 and fit fine in these trucks. But if I was 20 lbs heavy(ie fat) I wouldn't be comfortable

If Toyota brought the standard transmission, diesel Hilux to the USA, it would be the best selling vehicle ever.

No it wouldn't. Too many people would still buy an f150 on name alone

I would love to have one myself. Almost bought one of these 3 years ago

Look, I get it... if I run a construction company or really any company where trucks are used to take care of the workload, we gonna go barebones.

But for a personal vehicle I see nothing wrong with having leather interior, nice bells and whistles... the truck still allows me to do truck things, but I can also drive it on a family vacation.

The Toyota is the best option of those 4. They maintain good quality on their compact trucks. Ford and Chevy ones are cheap pieces of shite and will fall apart under any actual tough work off the highway.

Lol at any of those being called fuel efficient. Those things drank gas back when pickups were not comfortable vehicles

The Tacoma is bigger than the T-100 pickup of that era. The Colorado, Frontier, and Ranger are nearly the size of full sized pickups from the early 1990s. Their 4 cylinders are probably more powerful than the base V8 pickups models from that decade too.

Yea you don’t realize how small a full size Silverado from 1997 really is compared to ones today

Just checking...the cheapest Colorado I found was $22,000. Tacoma was $23,000. Frontier was $25,000, but they come standard with a 300 horsepower V6 for 2021.

I’m actually struggling to see the point of a mid sized (or any) truck if there is not a variant that’s a serious value play. Nissan makes a solid 4 cylinder. They should put it back in the Nissan Frontier. That’s one of the reasons for don’t consider the Ridgeline to be a real truck.

The Colorado at $22,000 or the Tacoma at $23000 are both steals as a third vehicle. Even if they have boring white paint.

You can find a used GX 460 for under $30k and a 6’ trailer for $1500. Tow capacity is 6500lb with a payload of 1400 lb. It’s not a diesel, but it can meet all your needs as a mid size truck with 4wd.

You used to be able to buy compact diesel trucks like that.

The frontier is a bargain truck.

Driveline is bulletproof. It's a fullsize truck with a midsize body.

If given for free sure. One, I don't buy brand new vehicles. Secondly, I've had a truck that was extended cab and never again will I own a truck that isn't a crew cab.

Yep. Whenever the suburban travel ball kids get old enough, their parents' spring for a fully loaded, lifted truck. It was ridiculous how many of these guys I saw at A&M and it just keeps those prices going up.
