Would You Drive This? A brand new $25,000 pickup truck

Before the era of leather lined bro-dozers, well to do people on larger estates drove comfortable, fuel efficient vehicles like Buick, Park Avenues, Town Cars, Cadillac Sevilles, Chevy Caprices, or even Nissan Maximas or or Acura Legends....then had a base compact truck for homestead related chores.

No one makes a real compact pickup truck anymore, but you can still can park a brand new 4 cylinder truck in the 3rd garage bay while keep a Mercedes E450, Cadillac CT5, or Tesla Model X around as your daily driver.

Chevy, Ford, Nissan, and Toyota all make 4 cylinder, extra-cab pickup trucks with steel wheels and two wheel drive. These "pest control" -spec trucks can all be had with some discounts to bring the price down into the mid $20,000 range. Most come in white with black bumpers, but there are several colors to choose from. I'd show a picture of the interiors, but they aren't worth looking at. That's not why you buy rigs like these. Just imagine a lot of hard plastics, manually adjustable seats, and tiny infotainment screens - although they all come standard with Car Play.

Would you drive these trucks? They all costs about $26,000, come equipped with a 4 cylinder engine, 2 wheel drive, and an automatic transmission. Bed liners and tow packages are extra cost options that you can probably upfit yourself at home. 4x4 is optional, but a cheap set of mud tires on these two wheel drive rigs would suffice most of the time anyways.






Nothing replaces a pickup truck when you truly need one. All of the above rigs look like they'd be just as at home parked in the back corner of your land as they would delivering Auto parts for your local NAPA store. They are all reliable, cheap, and completely no-frills.
