It honestly looks better than I thought it would. Hyundai did a good job with this one.
Definitely more promising than that tiny 3 cylinder Ford truck thing that has been running around.

Not a fan but it looks better than I had imagined.

Do they offer a two door version that makes it even more like a compact pickup? Because that would draw my interest.

Yeah, that's an updated Subaru Baja

The first gen model was okay. The second gen Sport Track was hot garbage from a reliability standpoint. The Hyundai will get twice the gas mileage as that old thing and probably last twice as long.
Ford should have modified the Panther chassis and offered an El-Camino style truck on it instead of just killing off the Crown Vic, Marquis, and Town Car. It might have given all of those cars another 6-7 years of life.

You're looking for a Holden Ute, my friend

As long as the rear glass and tailgate have ample room for "coexist" stickers and such, it will probably sell well to that market.

I found this on another site --
So, basically, about the same price as a Tacoma.
Ain't no way in the f*cking world I would pay the same price for a Kia as a Toyota. The Kia would have to be at least 35-50% cheaper.

As for pricing, the 2022 Santa Cruz should start short of $30,000 and range up toward $40,000 with a full load of frippery. Final pricing should be available closer to the Santa Cruz’s on-sale date this summer.

6.2L V8...400 horsepower. And almost no weight on the rear end.
They'd sell about 100 of them in the US, but they would be VERY happy customers up until they wrapped it around a tree.

I sold Fords when those were out, they were awful looking.

If they were smart, they'd make a commercial model and target the business vehicles. Tons of businesses need a "small truck" with some storage that is very reliable and gets good gas mileage

For reference, here is the 2005 Subaru Baja
Basically an Outback with a pickup bed.

It's Hyundai. They aren't stupid. And unlike Ford and GM, they aren't "woke".

Hondas, Toyotas and Subarus.
