I wonder if GMAC is extending 7 year payoff cycles to 10, 15, or 30 year financing options.

My boat dealer, and lots of others, are already offering 20 year financing which blows my mind.

Yes, I would drive it, but wouldn't pay over $45k for it. Old used vehicles it is for me! Prices just aren't going to be sustainable for the middle class, especially with fuel costs and inflation. I pity those that are overextending themselves buying new cars right now.

It really is a poor purchase for someone that isn't fairly wealthy. It seems like a bubble that's ready to burst but obviously someone is paying these prices.

That's a lie. As much as folks want to act like ballers here, a $1k car payment plus the inevitable $200 a month insurance plus $3/gallon gas will strain the pocketbook on a family, unless you're bringing in $150k plus.

Let's not even mention the lost opportunity cost of the money if only half of it were invested each month.

For sure. My wife and I make right around $150k, live in a modest house, have paid off vehicles. After all is said and done, we have around $2500/month discretionary income. I just can't fathom spending half of that on a vehicle.

Not mad at all. Just don't get why people lie in car threads.

This is the key. I'm fortunate to be in a situation where both my fiance and I have fantastic jobs and we have nice cars but I see friends of mine who I know make less than me driving cars that are much much nicer than mine. It's all sunshine and rainbows when the market is hot but at some point things will slow down and people are going to be left holding the bag.

Of course I would drive it. Who wouldn't? I have no need for an 80k truck right now, though, so I won't be a buyer.

Just curious, why would I need to lie about it?
I buy new trucks every 1-2 years and have for the last 15+ years. I bought this truck when the used cars were depleted and traded 2 vehicles in on it (and got current value on), while the new car lot was still chocked full of trucks. I've also bought 5 vehicles from this dealership in the last 2 years.
So why wouldn't I get a great deal on this truck and again, why would I need to lie about it?
Not that you deserve an explanation, but there it is, interwebs tough guy.

I was waiting for the refresh to decide, the exterior will be great but the lack of a pano moonroof is a dealbreaker for me. Will probably look at the Tundra.

Nah, GM truck reliability has plummeted. As good as they look, and they are definitely great looking trucks...... I would never buy one again. Tundra is the way to go.

I always see this type of statement posted about trucks on this site, domestic specifically. The only question I have is, how in the hell are y'all driving these things? Are y'all just dogging the hell out of them to such an extent that y'all are fricking the engines up? Because I have had multiple trucks and have had them for multiple years and keeping them serviced and not letting the oil turn bad has never once given me issues with everyday use of the trucks. Y'all must be treating them like shite.

Drive it? Sure. Buy it? I don't have any use for a loaded out truck like that. My truck is used to pull my boat to the lake, make a trip to Home Depot or carry stuff that won't fit in the other vehicles.
Nothing against those that would use it everyday and need a vehicle like that, but it would be overkill and a waste of money for me.

The insides are so fine on those but good grief, they have lost their minds on prices

Do they finance for 120 months?

My new truck is the 2021 Sierra Denali ultimate edition, ran me about $80k

I’ll strongly consider trading it in for the 2022 model.

But the dealer said the 2022-2023 models won’t have features like navigation that the 2021 models do because of the chip shortage. He expected the price of the vehicle to just go up as well because of the features offered and the chip shortage getting worse before it gets better.

People buying more vehicle than they could otherwise afford and stretching the term out is a very real thing. It's their money I guess but I can't think of any scenario where it is a wise financial decision.

These are most likely the same people that have 60k in retirement savings.
