I agree. Not taking a car on a long road trip without adaptive cruise control.

I realize Ohio is colder than Louisiana. My vehicle has remote start and I've never turned it on. Ever thought of the possibility that a kid remotely starts your vehicle while in the garage and all that carbon monoxide is released? Maybe there's a safeguard to prevent such, I don't know.

Just give me AC, power windows and automatic tranny.

Hell, I don't even want the automatic tranny.

Can you buy a new vehicle without those, at least the safety features?

Back up camera is paramount. I won't purchase a vehicle without one now.

Pretty sure they are required by law now. Probably the best features added to cars in a long time.

I'm trying to buy a new one with the least amount of tech in it. That's why I'm eyeing a Tundra up to 2021.

ride has all that crap and while I thought it was silly at first I've grown accustomed to it and I want all of it now.

Same here. I couldn’t care less about some of features you listed but I really enjoy the adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, automatic windshield wipers and speed limit detection.

They have to have one by law now. But all of this crap is why a Silverado with cloth seats is 60k now too

Just bought a new Elantra a few months ago. On thing that bugs the shite out of me is the back up detection system. Have the camera and itll alert me of rear cross traffic but wont alert me if im about to back into something. Thankfully I pay attention and have yet to need the alerts but it just doesnt make sense that it can do the rear cross traffic alerts but not that.

Pre-collision braking - Nice for my wife, because she likes to run into things about 3 times a year. You should see our insurance bill.

Adaptive cruise control - Nice feature, if it doesn't have it I don't care, I know how to hit the brake.

Lane departure warning - Hate this feature and it almost caused an accident for me. Was trying to swerve to avoid a deer in the road and the damn car kept trying to pull back into the lane with a lot of force. Luckily it gave up after fighting me for a bit.

High beam assist - Annoying feature, it always kicks on and won't turn off, pissing off pretty much every other driver on the road.

Speed limit detection - Okay feature with one huge caveat. If you get into an accident your insurance company will pull the computer from the car and inspect your speed against what was logged by the speed limit detection system. If you were over the limit they won't pay out for the accident on a "misuse" clause.

Remote start - Great years ago when I lived in a cold climate; pretty useless in the Carolinas.

It's almost gotten me in a wreck way more than it has helped me avoid a wreck

Going around a curve, and while the camera is pointing into the other lane, it sees a car and slams on the brake causing the person behind you to nearly rear-end you?

Yeah, that happens weekly if I forget to turn it off.
