No. I do not want to live in the desert. I like shade trees and thick St. Augistine grass to put my feet in.

It's a dome of high pressure sitting over us. It absolutely does protect us. You don't have to be a weatherman to know that.

[quote]No. Hurricanes don't impact us every year.[/quote

Sad, I know, but I wish we went back to the days of old where just the east coast had a cane here an there.

Think of the reduced insurance costs without the risk of hurricanes.

Yeah. I bet they’d be in a big hurry to reduce rates

You can get a second home in the northeast for the summer. It’s 69 degrees right now. Have the fire pit going and may need a sweatshirt in a bit.

Thought you were gonna say protect us from Californians relocating.

And the answer would be yes.

This is what I was basically alluding to in one of those 1980 threads. More gulf action remnants of storms breaking up consecutive days of heat.

So do you want heat or storms?

What’s most likely going to happen is we will go back to storms in the later summer and your grass won’t be dead.

It’s peak summer. In a few months you’ll have people bitching how Louisiana is so cold.

Who in their right mind would choose rolling the dice with hurricanes that bring on the possibility of major wind damages, floods, tornadoes, and increase the risk of more and more insurance companies leaving the Gulf Coast thereby effectively sky rocketing insurance costs?

Is this where I make the point the ridge has only directed one storm away from Louisiana.

Nothing else has even been in play.

Guess what? It gets hot during the summer in the south

Yes, but statistically speaking this has been one of the hottest summers in recorded history. This isn’t some climate change conspiracy, but this weather has sucked arse for the last two months.
