No. Just clean it up. These businesses have a right to run it if they do it correctly.

No, LSU needed to apply pressure to clean up the area, the section 8 housing is not good for the area in general.

There are plenty of other bars that will take the chance on still serving. Bars themselves would have to change their entry policy to 21+. Even then, if fake ID's today are as good as some have mentioned, there will still be some that get through.

the House is a good bar too

Reggie's has been terrible for a long time even back when it was sports illustrated

Why?

Are you going to shutter every business in the country where bad things might happen?

Wait, are we back to blaming bars for all this crap happening?

Nope - not at all. I am actually saying closing a bar or a handful of bars even is not a good strategy IMO due to the overall prevalence of the issue. Not just in Baton Rouge even... in every college town where there are college bars.

If they could level it and then put in a really cool area with restaurants, cool stores, some bars and music venues it would be sweet.

Student housing and bars that are walkable/close to campus is great for students, economy, quality of college life, and safety (less drinking and driving)

Instead LSU has allowed ghetto pieces of shite non students increase crime in an area and drive students farther away from campus and bar district. More drinking and driving and more crime. Such a Baton Rouge thing

The issue of underage drinking? That's the issue in your mind?

Tigerland neighborhoods are an issue but also infrastructure around it.

LSU and the City need to strongly consider more pedestrian and/or cycle friendly "greenway"? with a decent enough distance away from Nicholson and connects to apartments near burbank.

That would not have avoided the recent tragedy's but would vastly improve the area.

If LSU golf course is going to close or move to 9 holes, that whole area can be a "green way" connector of sorts. However, all of that is useless if tigerland neighborhood is a shithole.

Really would need to tear it all down and do a 'master plan' but that makes too much sense.

What would that even solve? The students would just go somewhere else? The only thing unique about Tigerland is it’s proximity to campus. Now you will have kids driving further away to bars (or not walking) and driving further back drunk.

I think it could only hurt the area surrounding it if the bars close.

I have never been to Baton Rouge and have not been to Louisiana in a few years, but if closing Tigerlands down meant no one here mentioning it again, I would be more than okay with that.
